I make a pretty mean apple strudel with vanilla ice cream, but...

I'm sorry, but trying to top Scott F is like trying to hold back the sun. His answer above was so detailed, that I got curious about his previous answers. Did you know that he sits at 25% BEST ANSWERS? Blew my mind when I saw that...I can barely manage 10%. So I thought I'd read a few. Man, this guy not only knows a LOT about a LOT but he's funny as well. (His answer to how to get the burn out of hot peppers had me crying, I was laughing so hard!) I'm jealous, and I am truly IN AWE. And I will not ever presume to think I know more about anything than him.

Roman-style ricotta cheese pie flavored with saffron, pistachios and golden raisins, made with a pasta frolla crust. I've been sitting here for three minutes and haven't come up with anything to top it. Not pears poached in red wine served with caramel sauce... not our homemade pumpkin pie with maple syrup and fresh-roasted pumpkin...

Though the fresh-baked cinnamon rolls cooling on the rangetop right now look pretty darn good... we made fresh bread to serve with my Milanese-style beef stew, and there was enough dough left over for dessert, so my wife rolled it out, brushed it with melted butter, added cinnamon and sugar and made spirals. I brushed the tops with the rest of the melted butter and sprinkled them with brown sugar. I can hardly keep myself from rushing in there NOW to devour them...

My wife just chimed in, "Bread pudding." When we make it with day-old croissants and stir apricot jam and toasted pecans into the mix, she may have a point. Or maybe it's just been too long since I've made an Italian-style ricotta cheese pie.

She also interrupted, "FUDGE." We are famous across four states for our Christmas fudge -- white chocolate fudge scented with orange and studded with dried cherries and pecans; lemon fudge with dried blueberries; semisweet chocolate fudge with chunks of candied ginger; and just the best all-around creamy milk chocolate fudge with large pieces of walnut. But I'm not sure it's dessert, it's more a holiday treat.

My mother's pumpkin pie or persimmon pudding. No one makes them like she does. Her pumpkin pies have just the right amount of spice so as to blend with the pumpkin taste rather than overwhelm it. Her persimmon pudding is just the right texture, not too dry and not too gooey.
