It is very bad for you because it weakens your bladder. I understand not using the public restrooms because I avoid them at all costs unless I really have to. However, you may have to suck it up and use them because the more pregnant you become, it is going to be harder to hold in.

YES this is verry bad. I am 2 month pregnant and have one baby already. I was put in the hospital for a week with my last prgnancy because i did the same thing. what happens is when you hold it for so long you can get a bladder infection and not even know it and that releases toxins into the body wich can really hurt the baby and make you verry sick. I just got out of the hopital two days ago i was there for 4 days becuase i had a severe kidney infection and didnt even know it and my babie heart beat was already dropping and i only had the infection for 2 days. The same thing can happen with a bladder infection wich are verry common if you hold ur pee. Besides studies show that public toilets are more germ free than your ordinary house toilet because all peepl are so cautious in public restrooms not to sit on the seat and stuff. And if its a personal issue dont worry about it no one is gonna think ur weird for peeing. so yes it can and WILL hurt you and ur baby if you dont stop. If you dont believe me ask ur doctor. My advice listen to ur man.

Trust me, it is a *VERY* bad idea.
My husband and I went to Ohio when I was pregnant with our daughter. The only bathroom option for me for most of the day were porta-potties being used by about 1000 other people.
So I held it. I wasn't using those things they were disgusting!
On the way home I ended up in an emergency room with a UTI. With the medication I was given for the UTI, I got a yeast infection. Both of those conditions could have hurt the baby or could even have caused me to lose her.
So... is holding it a bad thing? Hell yes. Go when you feel the need. Holding it may seem convenient for you, but could hurt your baby.

Even if you weren't pregnant, it's not good to hold it. Perhaps there is a neighboring business where you feel comfortable using the facilities? If not, just dont sit down. I never sit on a public seat. Just squat over it. If you miss a little, at least you know where it came from, right. i.e.:You know it's yours. But, it's doubtful that will happen anyway. Pee, girl, pee. Your bladder is paying enough as it is.

It's bad to hold your urine at all, regardless of whether you're pregnant or not. It can lead to urinary tract infections, and that is something nobody wants--especially a pregnant woman who has to pee constantly anyway. :)
Try not to hold your urine in--use the toilets, but squat or use one of those paper things. Honestly, how many people do you know or know of who became ill from sitting on a public toilet seat? I've yet to meet anyone, myself included.
I spent a good deal of time during both of my pregnancies out shopping, walking in the mall for exercise, taking road trips, etc. and I used so many public toilets I've lost count. Both my kids were healthy and I never caught anything from the toilet seats.

Pregnancy as well as delivery can lead to incontinence on it's own... holding it for long periods of time can weaken all those muscles too... how badly do you want to wet your pants after the baby is born? Lear to use the paper thingies... it's really the best way to go.

Please dont hold it in !!!!
A full bladder can (as already mentioned) cause uti. It can also irritate the uterus and cause contractions. Both a UTI and Irritation of the Uterus can cause preterm labour. It is a devistating experience to deliver a baby at 6 months...please wee!
