I am serious.
I became Muslim as a result of a statement by my pastor, which led me to study the Quran. According to Christians, is he held accountable for my departure from the Church?

I am not asking if I will not be responsible. I am fully accountable for my actions. I am asking, in light of James Chapter 3, will this pastor ALSO be held accountable, according to Christians.

He stated a falsehood about Islam and Muslims, which I needed to correct, but since he was quite knowledgeable, I decided to back up my information with references, so I went to the Quran for information about Islam. I didn't run out and buy a copy - I looked it up online.
As for why I used the word "condemned" I was really asking for the Christian opinion. I think that he committed a sin, or at best made a bad mistake, and behaved in a very un-christianlike manner, but God can take what is bad and use it to achieve a good purpose. James wrote that teachers would be held accountable for all that they teach. He admonishes teachers to “consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue is also a fire, a world of evil among parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.”

Miriam, it was a Pentecostal church. Did you know your screen name is the Arabic name for the Mother of Jesus (pbuh)?

leave it to his religion to decide. your story is just one of God's mysterious ways of leading you to find him. so don't feel bad and take care of yourself. pray for peace in yourself and for the world

Smileycat,
If you knew Christianity you would know that Jesus Christ will be the Judge for you, your pastor, and everyone else. So, for you to interpret James Chapter 3 in a way that would condemn your pastor for an action you committed can not be determined because you do not provide enough information as to what he said to get you to leave the Christian faith. There is the matter that YOU left. You may have totally misunderstood what he said or took it out of context. So, you are not in the clear.
Jesus Christ only lived 33 years, never went more than 30 miles from his home, never wrote a book, never was on tv, never made a cd or any multimedia source and YET
-- Jesus Christ has influenced the world more than any person;
-- Jesus Christ's existence separates history (ac or bc);
-- Jesus Christ has more books written about him than any person in history;
-- Jesus Christ is the Ruler of the largest religion in the world;
-- Jesus Christ had 11 apostles and numerous martyrs die excruciating deaths believing in the Messiah, the Son of God;
-- Jesus Christ as the promised messiah fulfilled over 300 prophesies in the Old Testament. Just fulfilling 50 makes the odds of doing so 10X135 power, an astronomical number. No human being has ever fulfilled so many prophesies about them, not even Moses!
In short, Jesus Christ has accomplished things NO OTHER HUMAN BEING HAS DONE in the entire history of mankind. If anyone thinks Jesus Christ is JUST A GOOD TEACHER they are very unrealistic by making such a huge understatement.
When comparing the BIBLE & QURAN which came first? A counterfiet or forgery never exists before the REAL THING. Yet, they both acknowledge the prophets and ONE TRUE GOD.
God is spirit. He cannot be seen. If you were to examine all the creatures, the CREATOR has made a pattern emerges: angels and demons are intellectual creatures without a body; plants and animals do not have an intellect but a body and mortal soul. IT IS ONLY LIVING, HUMAN, BEINGS, that have a MIND, BODY, and SOUL. Only human beings have all three. Now, living, human, being is the existence of man. Those words describe the essence of man's mind, body, and soul. The Body is living, the Mind makes us human and distinguishing us from animals, and our Soul makes us the being that we become (good or evil).
Now, even Muslims will agree Allah is omnipotent (all powerful), omniscient (all knowing), and omnipresent (ever present). These words describe the existence of God. So, what is the essence of God? I will hold off answering this question till the end.
Now, if you think about the existence of a person they have a triple existence: physical (body), mental (mind), and spiritual (eternal soul). In fact, whenever we create something it has all three of these parts. When we cook we have a recipe (in our mind), we gather all the raw ingredients, and we cook (don't burn it, ha ha) what it is we are making. Cooking has the physical, mental, and spiritual parts. Same with engineering or technology it has three parts: the blueprints (to convey an idea), the raw materials (physical), and the workmanship (spiritual). If something goes wrong investigators will look for a design flaw, material flaw, or faulty workmanship. THIS DEMONSTRATES CREATION HAS THREE PARTS LIKE THE CREATOR.
Now, in the Bible it says Jesus is the visible likeness of the invisible God. (Colossians 1:15) The ESSENCE OF GOD IS: Father (mental), Son (physical), Holy Ghost (spiritual). ONE TRUE GOD IN THREE JUST LIKE A PERSON. THREE PARTS ONE PERSON. When you are sick you send for a doctor; when you are mentally troubled, a psychiatrist; when spiritually seeking you seek out a holy person.

First off he or she are not a christian pastor No matter how they act or identify them selves. please do not be fooled. No follower of Jesus Christ or God his father would do such a false thing. I won't tell you why right now. But their are many person that are falsely representing his or her self. There is only one true God and he is the father and Creator of us all. There are many reasons why I will never recommend any human to follow Islam or any other false religion. But all the truth in this world will do at this time is just create a big fight over the Simple Truth that I am able to tell you. And yes he would be condemned for all eternity for mis-leading God's children Just like those other false pastor or priest are doing at this time....... Good Luck on not being mis-lead.

This is SOO intertesting. You're muslim now... yet if you really believed in your faith, why do you feel your Pastor would be CONDEMNED for pointing you to "the truth"? wouldn't your new god be pleased with him?
Also: to directly answer your question, No he would not be condemned by JESUS on judgement day. Unless your Pastor said something blasphemous that turned your heart away and caused you to stray.... in which case he will be held accountable. My pastor makes refrences to other religions all the time as refrences and to compare contrast OUR truth with what ohers believe. Religion shouldn't promote ignorance and hatred. So if your pastor made a passing REFRENCE and you took it upon yourself to make a conscience effort to go out there and buy a Quaran and study and go to a mosque and convert - YOU will be held accountable for YOUR deliberate actions. Worry about yourself, honey. Eternity is a LONG TIME to spend in hell fire.
DO ME A FAVOR. READ ACTS 2 ... focus on verse 38. It'll tell you all you need to know about life after death. Also, if it interestes you, go to your local APOSTOLIC PENTACOSTAL church and speak to the pastor od bishop there. Remember, they're just HUMAN. they make mistakes JUST LIEK WE DO.. God (Jesus) will still hold YOU accountable for your actions and something about the way your message was written tells me that you know it..

Depending upon whose perspective...the Christian Church may think he's bad as he caused a lamb to leave the flock. According to Islam, he is good because he brought you to the truth. My viewpoint is when all of you get to heaven you'll be shocked at who is there - yep, I'm a non-Christian, non-Muslim, non-Jew and I'll be right there beside you all - does it really matter?

As a student of both Christianity and Islam how can you not see that they are both just offshoots of the same original truth that has been twisted by man over time?

if he is just stating information and facts, then No he is not held accountable. You made the choice yourself to convert to Islam, therefore, you are held accountable.
Jesus presents the facts and truths to every person, which it was the people who are held accountable for their choices. They either rejected him or followed him.
