When I was in high school I used to brush my teeth with toothpaste lightly (just enough to get the "funk" off) then dip my toothbrush in peroxide and immediately dip it into baking soda and brush my teeth with it for several minutes (be sure not to swallow the peroxide!) and then brush "for real" right behind it to get the taste out of my mouth and to finish cleaning my teeth. It naturally whitened them. I did it about 3 times a week. If I remember correctly that's a little trick my mother taught me. It worked!

If you cant afford the Crest white strips or the stuff at the dentist then I don't reccomend doing household stuff, because you could use too much and cause damage to your teeth and gums. Too much peroxide will iritate your gums and make them bleed and then be sensitive for a few days. Baking soda is abrasive and will wear away the enamel. Just save $5 to $20 here and ther and eithter buy the crest white strips, or go to the dentis for impresions and gel for the at home 2 week whitening kit. DO NOT USE THE 1 HOUR STUFF! GOOD LUCK!

Baking soda does work, but if you can, invest in a good whitening toothpaste, like Crest Whitening. Try to avoid foods which stain your teeth, like coffee and soda, right after you brush your teeth in the morning. If you do, then re-brush. Get into a habit of brushing after lunch, or chewing sugar free gum. But don't over do it. Too much brushing can damage your teeth. Brush right before bed, and no late night soda. Oh yeah, don't forget to floss. Pretty white teeth are great, but you still want to avoid cavities!

First of all brush three times a day. If you are a smoker, cut back or quit. There are inexpensive toothpaste whiteners out there so look around. Another thing is to eat a healthy diet and see your dentist for regular cleaning and check-ups. Also try eating more popcorn. It is a natural cleaner and good for the gums too. Good luck!

My teacher who has been a dental assistant for over thirty years told me a trick. She said if you get baking soda and wet it down until a paste and then put it on a soft cloth you can rub it on your teeth for a little while each day and you will see dramatic results. I don't know about everyone saying lemon juice. Even if it does whiten your teeth it will take off your enamel. That is not reversable so you would probably look better with stained teeth than with rippled enamel.

have you tried some of the whitening toothpaste
be careful of what you use on you teeth some products are to strong and may cause pitting on the enamel or even thinning. why don't you wait and save up then see a professional to take care of the whitening.

Consumer reports magazine says Ultra-Brite toothpaste removes the most stains for the lowest cost.
My dental hygenist says to brush your teeth BEFORE drinking coffee or tea. The coffee stains the remaining plaque on your teeth, if you brush first, there is less plaque to stain.
You can also use a home-made paste from baking soda and hydrogen peroxide.

Brush your teeth with Colgate in the AM and PM. Also mix Baking soda and peroxide to make a small amount of paste to brush with. Do not swallow any of it. Just brush onto your teeth and then rinse it out of your mouth.

I know peroxide is the main ingerdient..... but please do not put that in your mouth. I don't know if any household products are safe to put in your mouth. I mean that's why they have special teeth whitening gels and strips. They were designed to go in your mouth, regular products were not. Thnik about your safety..... just save a little until you can buy the safe stuff.
