Something like that, you can probably just buy at Wal-Mart.

The standard in a 22 Rimfire is a Ruger 10/22. It is a semi-auto with a 10 round clip. You can order one from Wal-Mart for under $200. If you prefer bolt actions, Marlin makes one with a 7 round clip for about $150 from Wal-Mart.

Check out their website:

http://www.walmart.com/guns

Click on rifles. Then select bolt-action or semi-auto. I then sort by price from lowest to highest. That will put most of your 22 rimfires right at the beginning. Just check on the "specs" for the rifle. It will list the capacity. If it has a clip, it should give a number +1 (like 10+1 for the Ruger 10/22)

If you want to be different, you could get a 17 HMR rifle. It is a 17 caliber rimfire cartridge. I don't know much about them, but they are supposed to be nice.

If you don't want to wait for Wal-Mart to order the rifle, you can always print off the web page for the one you like and take it to the local gun store. Most gun stores will match the price rather than lose your business.

Happy Shooting!

Remington 870 is a pump shotgun. Ruger 1022 is right on. Check Academy stores for a low-priced model. Custom models can go over a thousand dollars.

Another model you might check (although they don't offer as many accessories) is the Chinese made copy of the Browning .22 auto loader, a ten shot tubular magazine (in the rear stock) two piece take down beauty. That one should be around $250 to $300 and Academy also may carry it. Remington makes some good .22 autos also, but I don't know the model designations or prices.

I picked up a nice little Marlin Model 60 - semi-automatic - .22 LR - holds 12 bullets in the chamber - with a scope for $70 at a pawn shop. Just another option if you are looking for something on a budget.

I'd buy a Ruger 10-22 --- very accurate --has a standard clip of 7 rounds (I think) but you can purchase up to a 90 round clip (depending on your state laws )--I think you can pick up a new one with (with scope) for well under 250.00---- I've had one for years -- never had a problem

Ruger 10/22 is the ticket. Accurate, reliable, plenty of extras to pimp it with. They come with 10 round rotary mags. I would stick with them and not waste money on the after market ones. They tend to jam real bad and be very finiky on types of ammo. Save up and get a decent scope (spend over $100) and you'll be set for hunting small game.

Ruger 10/22, with a good scope. The .177 HMR is a good one also, but more expensive to buy, and shoot
