My ideas? Try to do 200 minutes of cardio a week. Remember fat does not turn into muscle, so you need to lose your fat while putting on muscle. Work hard, but don't over 60 minutes at a time. Do planks and other abs exercises on alternate days.
On training days, do 5-10 minutes of cardio to warm up, then do your weight training. Do 30 to 60 minutes more of cardio, then go home.
The best time to eat is just after your workout within an hour when your metabolism is raging. For your muscles, incorporate some isolated soy protein or whey protein. Whey is more potent but the soy tastes better!
Don't look at your scale as the be all and end all, but get a measuring tape to check your progress, and that will show more tangible results.
Read magazines like Shape, Womens Fitness, Fitness, etc to get tips and to stay motivated.
Good luck and stick at it. This plan has lost me 20 lbs in 12 weeks so far, just go for it!

Doing weight training can increase your muscle mass and therefore your resting metabolism. It takes more calories to maintain muscle than it does to maintain fat. So by increasing muscle mass, you can increase your metabolism while resting and slowly lose fat as long as you watch your diet. You should also accompany the weight training with aerobic exercise. Aerobic exercise practiced at a moderate intensity for over 30 minutes has proven to deplete your short term energy storage and burn fat. Aerobic training is proven to target fat storage and give a more sculpted look. In conclusion, a combination of weight training and aerobic exercise will help you lose stomach fat and love handles.

Lose weight. You can't skip that step, no matter how much we all wish it would happen. Then all of the good exercise suggestions. The SparkPeople site has a great place with exercises for each body part, and the exercises are animated. I like to do crunches with the exercise ball.
Geek has THE best explanation of how you have to cut a lot of calories and do a whole lot more exercise than you can imagine to lose.

You are looking to burn fat. Your muscles are under that fat, where they are already looking like washboards.
I'd suggest high-calorie exercises, which usually tend to be aerobic exercises. Spinning and treadmill classes are good bets.
You need understand that 60 minutes of high-intensity exercise equals about one carton of fries. So, you can see where I'm going here... if you wanna eat anything and everything, you need to be running 20 miles a week, biking 150 miles a week, etc. Otherwise, you have to limit your food intake. Specifically, limit the carb intake initially (fries, beer, etc).

If you use a treadmill, kick it up a notch by taking 5 pound weights and pumping them up and down while going about 3-1/2 to 4 mph. You have to pump them over your head. It is very very hard and burns a ton of weight and adds muscle.

Cyclic training work-outs are effective, apparently.
I.e. Run on a treadmill.
-Warm up on 30-40% for three minutes.
-Sprint at 85-90% for 30 seconds
-Return to warm up speed for 90 seconds.
-Repeat the cycle 5-7 times.
