I personally support our troops but not the war. i don't think we went over there for the right reasons. Now, don't misunderstand when I say that. I do support the idea of war, but only when it's justified. Now, when I say I support the troops, I mean that I understand that they are over there doing their duty and will never disrespect them in any way. They may believe what they're doing is the right thing to do or they may think that we need to get out... either way they have a job to do. it's what they signed up for. I will continue to support my husband and his friends by sending him and them whatever they need. I will love and support him through this war no matter what happens. I will support my husband's friends wives through whatever they are going through here while our husbands are off doing their jobs. My anger lies not with the troops but with our government. I know that our troops are just doing their jobs. I'm proud of my husband and his unit. It's not their fault they're fighting this war. I also know of many military wives who think the same way I do.

People have become so stupid, yes I said it STUPID...THAT THEY DON'T HAVE ANY COMMON SENSE AT ALL,THOSE SOLDIERS OR OVER THERE PROTECTING US ,OUR BUTTS,to keep this country safe, from having what they are fighting, come over here and then we will be seeing on our home land the same stuff we see everyday on the news, some of you need a good shacking up,you act like children, you went to school I hope, you should know how it works, you are over here in your comfortable homes, and have food and clothes probably you don't need, and you cant even support the president and the troops ,Bush didn't cause this war,Clinton did,and now he has to clean up his mess, and if all you people would stop acting like 10 year old children and grow up and do what you are suppose to,you don't have to like the president, but when he is running the country, and there are other countries watching the US ,how stupid and unAmerican we are ,is there any wonder this war is not ending ,why should they comply with demands, when the US cant even back its President and troops,....we as a country should be so ashamed....you are doing it again, its another Viet Nam.....shame on you America,I thought you said never Again........SHAME,and may God have mercy on our souls for what we are doing again

We live in a free country where you're allowed to express your opinions.
Yes you can oppose the war, but still understand that the soldiers did not choose it or make it and support them, simply by not taking the opposition to the politics of it out on them. The soldiers really appreciate the support wether you agree with the politics or not. They do their job to make sure you have that right.
My husband is in the military and we donate to the USO, the "Disabled Veterans Lifetime Memorial Foundation", the VFW, and other organizations like that. I hope that the people supporting the soldiers do the same, or donate time to welcome troops or help out the families back at home.

I'm one of those. I support our troops. I believe that if we sent them that they deserve to have all the supplies, equipment and material they need to successfully complete the job and to keep themselves as safe as possible. And since we initiated this mess, I believe we owe the Iraqui people and their government enough support to get on their feet and stabilize the situation.
I do not however support the war itself. I believe that the President either misled us about Iraq's possession of weapons of mass destruction or was too incompetent to deal with the intelligence. Personally, I believe that he misled us. He has given me no reason to believe otherwise. So while I support the troops, I am against the methods the President used to get us entangled with the Iraq situation. And the fact that the world is or is not better off without Saddam Hussein in power is irrelevant.

How about showing empathy to those that have returned?
How about saying thank you to them?
How about gladly paying taxes in support of military salaries?
How about helping people see what soldiers really go through over there?
How about separating the idea of whether the war is right or not from the soldiers that are ordered to go there?

showing common human decency is not the same as support. support means actively engaging yourself in a positive manner towards an idea. saying 'we support the troops, not the war' means that although we don't agree with the reasons behind going to war, we support the troops in their decision to fight for the ideas that founded our country. the troops weren't the ones who decided to go to war - they were the brave ones among us who decided to stand up for the ideas that founded the united states - freedom, liberty, etc.

They are trying to make them selves feel good but without action or real support. When the protesters picket the funereal of a fallen soldier, that is not supporting the troops. When they protest and burn the American flag, that is not support.
Support is donating to the USO or Home Town Hero program. Support is flying the flag and thanking our troops for risking their lives to keep us safe.
I was spat at and called a pig in the NY Port Authority Building when I was in the US Army in 1972 (Viet Nam Era)
I wanted to kick a** but the civil and military police stopped us.

I like "handmaidenofhell"'s answer ... it shows alot of courage and perspective...
Even prior to this war... as our enlistment rosters filled .. medias began trying to program us to blindly accept and praise a military zeal to "protect us" ... "don't make the mistake that was made to our Viet Nam heroes" ... we were admonished ..
Every war has controversy ...
I do not like us becoming a fascist Spartan state who isn't supposed to question this ...
Harrass soldiers who have served ... no thankyou ...
But I'll wait for a threat to my shores ... and I'll load trucks to help send aid to earthquakes and storms , instead of being part of a military force helping corporate interests extort oil from a foreign state ...
I am not dissing those in military service ... but let's face it .. Their choices have other motivations .. A contracting US job market that gives them few promising alternatives like the one their parents and grandparents had ... free lifelong medical coverage .. education benefits .. perhaps adventure .. and removal of "selfdetermination" .. a carte blanche to claim they "protect" ... it is a choice (being in the military or not)... It has plenty rewards , and yes it is being passive to a state(should that state choose to tarnish our collective integrity)...
Americans will saber rattle .. they are blindly jingoistic .. opposing your nation's decisions about making war does not have to be what you are naming ... but people should be more circumspect in their endorsements ...
Personally when I see a flagdraped casket from Iraq .. I quietly reflect to myself, another waste .. another young man that I wish had both the courage and common sense to move to Canada or do anything possible not to serve in an unjust war ... Was he a hero? - yes ... Would not going also make him a hero? - yes, and a far wiser one ... One that sacrificed the stupid esteem of the majority ... One that lives on for causes that have meanings ...

Well, it's better than what the anti-war Americans did to our Vietnam veterans, isn't it?
Working for our soldiers to come home, or at least have a clear objective, *is* support.

it is actual. religious track does tend to be horribly, horribly bland. It lacks sincerity and - tho' I hate to apply the be conscious - soul. despite if it under no circumstances was once that way. religious track was once great - Bach's B minor Mass, Mozart's Requiem case in point. remarkable, remarkable track created by utilising people that wanted to make the desirable track they could. at present, the concentration isn't heading in the right direction yet on "bringing people to the Lord". This reduces it to the point of merchandising and propaganda. the traditional of the track suffers. It sounds like it got here from a "the thank you to compose track" textbook instead of from an incredibly, fallacious, susceptible individual, it is what track needs to have any actual fee in any respect.
