well first just bring it out every 30 min or so to get it to go repeat "go podie" until it go's. then say good boy or whatever, but if it goes in the house is a different story, I only know this and it works, you may not like it though... when it poops or pee's grab its head a make look at it and say BAD DOG then bring it outside.

Umm.....you want to potty train a puppy, as in use the toilet? I know you can train cats to use the toilet but not sure about dogs.
I think you are talking about housebreaking? Paper training may work for a small dog but you are probably better off to just train it o go outside. Every 45 minutes, take it outside. Good it when it goes.
Some people crate their dogs at night or when they are not home but I always found that cruel. We kept the puppy in the kitchen with a baby gate at the door. That way any accidents could be cleaned up easily.
Puppy will not be totally trained until 5-6 months old. I am sure there are books at your public library that could help you, or the vet can give you instructions.

easy. If ur puppy takes more than 35.28 seconds to go out, do his business and come back in, u r aking a big mistake.
One of the best ways to potty train a newly arrived puppy to become house trained is to not only limit the freedom it has when roaming around the house but also to make sure to only allow it to use the potty in one unique place.
If the puppy is allow to freely explore the whole house the chances that it will eliminate in an inappropriate place are very high and once the puppy has gone potty (toilet) within the house it will be drawn to return to that same place by the residual smell of its urine and feces.
Since dogs instinctively will not defecate in their sleeping area it is a good idea to keep the puppy's bathroom and sleeping areas separate, otherwise you risk changing this very helpful behavior. If you hope to house train your puppy then you must be sure not to just let it defecate wherever it wants to or else it will never learn that it is necessary to hold it.
If you haven't taken the time and effort to house train your puppy then you cannot get upset with it when it uses your plush carpet as a bathroom (potty).

Crate train your puppy. Use a crate that is large enough ONLY for it to stand up and lay down(the smaller the better). Put your puppy on a scheduale. after it eats, put him in the crate, wait 5-10 mins. and immediatly take outside. As soon as he goes, praise him! Then, if you want, you can play w/ him for a bit(but not until after he goes)(potty time is potty time and play time is play time). Then, put him back in his crate. He will come to know the crate as his "den" and a dog will not potty in his den. But, by taking him out immediatley from his crate, he will get the idea. Keep in mind, though, that puppies don't have full control til after 6 mos. of age. You don't have to keep him in the crate all the time, but keep him in there when you are not able to be watching his every move.(If you don't give him the chance to have an accident, chances are he won't). And NEVER use the crate as punishment! If he has an accident, just clean it up and don't make a fuss over it.

Cage train him. Get a cage that is roomy but not huge. Take him from cage and go directly outside. Stay there until puppy goes then praise and praise him. Remember puppies have little bladders and when puppies eat then puppies poop..Don't set him up to fail. When you feed him wait 20 min and take him out. If he goes potty in the house DO NOT SCOLD HIM> Just take him outside and wait again..Puppies need lots of exercise and attention. Make sure you want a puppy, There are lots of mature, already house trained dogs that need loving homes.. Cages are not cruel, in nature dogs make dens. The cage will become his den and he will enjoy going there. Just make sure he is not in cage all the time

Get a cage that is not much bigger than your puppy.
Line the bottom w/ newspaper.
After some time your puppy will begin to favor a particular spot or corner in the cage
Every day remove a small spot of paper in the cage (not where it goes)
Eventually there will only be a small spot that it will go on & it will learn where u want it to go

Put the dog in a small room - I refuse to use a crate. Put paper down everywhere - every square inch of the floor. Make a big deal when it pees or poops on the paper. Each day, reduce the size of the paper area until you have just one sheet. Then you can transfer from the newspaper to piddle pads or outdoors by putting the paper near where you need the dog to go.

Get a portable kennel to keep him in- he won't pee in his bed. Take him outside every couple of hours and stay out with him til he pees. Then praise him & give him a treat. He is safe to go back inside for awhile. Then, put him back into the kennel til time to go outside again, and start the cycle over again. The Cycle of Life (and bladder control).

Take the puppy outside alot.
Take him out after he has eaten, and when he wakes.
Even at night if you hear him wake up take him out.
Always praise, never scold as this will make him upset and possibly worse.
Its kinda like having a baby....LOL.........patience and love and alot of attention.
