Comic books. Don't dismiss the graphic arts so fast. An informative essay on the development of the comic book hero in the 20th century or a comparison between American comic book and Japanese Manga style of comics can be a great way to have fun with your topic. Just take it seriously.

Why not pick some social issues? and if your are tech savvy then throw a strategy on how to use technology to address the discussed issue. Remember 2 key ingredients: 1) Issue you choose must be affecting society at large 2) Solution provided should be cost effective, realistic and feasible.
