I only use Neutrogena hand lotion..It's a bit sticky so I only wear it at night with cotton gloves/ When I get up in the morning my hands are baby smooth.
I'm a nurse and my hands crack and bleed with the constant washing that I do. This is the only cream I have found to work. Also go to a manicurist and have them professionally shaved if they are very hardened or calloused. At any dept store they sell files so that you can file them down yourself at home

A person I once knew said when he worked cement he used to go to bed with vaseline on his hands and his hands in old socks. When he woke his hands wouldnt be softer less dry and cracked. And I know it sounds bad, lol but it is no joke.

I get callouses too, I use Vaseline Intensive Care lotion regularly, and it softens them up. Also, when you are working, take off any rings if you are wearing any, they will make callouses worse...

Well, sanding down the calluses may work, but I'd avoid using a power sander. I am guessing these are the kind that don't go away with lotion and lack of pulling on ropes.

this guy I knew had the same problem so he would put vaseline on his hands everynight and wear gloves and it made them softer. I know it sounds goofy, but it worked for him.

Use hand lotion/moisturiser whenever your hands feel a bit dry and make sure to rub it in.
Wear suitable gloves whenever you do something that is rough on your hands, e.g. go to the gym, use farm equipment et cetera.
