Convalescent immunity differentiates the immunity that follows a disease from immunity results from either disease or vaccination. Acquired Immunity is the generic term used in most scientific articles. Convalescent immunity is a medical term and is as old as the science of immunology, i.e. George Washington wanted his soldiers to have convalescent immunity to smallpox in 1777 almost 20 years before Jenner made the first vaccine against smallpox.
