I heard that on a certain day Davids Bridal opens at 7 am and all the brides go in and search for dresses and they fight over them and if you find a dress you can walk out for free. I think I saw something like that on friends and was wondering if it was true or just somehting someone saw on tv and thought they would say? Help please!

Not true at all!

What is true is that certain Filene's Basements have special days when they bring out tons and tons of dresses so people line up ahead of time to rush the store when it opens. They are not free, just super reduced.

That is on tv.

However, Davids bridal did do a give away to one lucky winner at the fashion show Sat that I attended. Plus a trip, some jewelry and make over.

Lady and gents bridal shop also gave away a gown.

They do have give aways but I never heard of one that can go in and do that. Especially since gowns can be destoryed in the process that can be worth 4,000 and so, that wouldn't be a good idea to have a mop of girls run in, grab, yank and all that. Especially if fights break out and that looks bad upon David's Bridal.

The bridal fights take place at some "warehouse" in New York City where you can get designer gowns for something like a third their usual price. Believe me, David's Bridal is NOT in that same category. Never heard of free bridal gowns, though.

Many stores do those type of sales.

The dresses are not free, just deeply discounted. They are also leftovers and floor samples, and generally crappy as a rule. You would have to be truly lucky to find what you were looking for in a sale like that. Life is not like television.

They have a "Every dress for $99" sale, but that's it.

David's Bridal isn't worth it though. Trust me--they have the same dresses used over and over again. No creativity and bad staffing.

I know they have $99 sales. I got my bride's maid dress for that, but I've never heard of walking out with a free dress.

I don't believe that is true at all. You can try to win a dress online through them , but they don't just give away free dresses. That would be nice for brides like us though, lol....one less thing we have to worry about!!
