I'm on bedrest but have been walking around way too much going to the hospitial for check ups...etc...is it safe enough to actually be doing this? I get off bed rest next week. I was put on bed rest due to preterm labor. and was dialated.

Your baby's lungs may not be fully developed yet. If you need to go for a check-up, that's probably ok, but try to follow your doctor's instructions otherwise.

Some babies do not mature until 38 or 39 weeks. It's heartbreaking to see your baby on a ventilator, in an ICU. Try to stay off your feet for another few weeks if you can manage.

Your doctors can test to see if your baby's lungs are mature, and when they are, they'll let you go into labor.

You should limit your walking as much as possible, but at this point going to the doctor should be safe. Obviously, the closer you get to 40 weeks is best, but your baby would probably be fine if delivered now. My daughter was born at 34 weeks, and thankfully she was able to go home with me. She did become jaundiced, but we were able to treat it at home. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and enjoy your baby!

I would hope you'd pose this question to your OB/GYN. Hopefully they would not have you come to the hospital so much if it's jeopardizing your bed rest. Please call your doctor and doublecheck that everyone is on the same page & that you should be attending all of the check-ups even on bed rest, or if they could conduct a house call.

If you really want this baby, you need to do whatever your Dr. tells you. If you need to get up, then use a wheelchair. You can rent them.
Premature babies can be very sick & expensive plus they can have a host of ongoing problems.

If your doctor says it's o.k., then it's not a problem. However you should rest even if you don't feel like doing that.
