Yosemite natl. park in central California...it is the most beautiful valley on this planet...@ that time of year ( April ) the waterfalls are starting to gush and the snow has melted enough so you'll be able to hike just about anywhere....hope to see you there...

Why not visit Chicago? Serious! My wife and I take weekend getaways on a tight budget as well, and there is nothing like seeing your own city or a very nearby city. We stay at a Best Western, as they are pretty much excellent no matter where you go, then we go out to dinner, and maybe a movie.
EDITED TO ADD:
I thought this was a "weekend getaway", meaning you can't go too far?

Drive to Georgia or Florida, if you are looking for warm weather. if you are okay with a bit Colder and you have a tight budget. Drive up to Toronto. The exchange of currency will help your budget stretch. Also there is a lot of competion between food places and food great food was very reasonable. You can also get a city pass, which will give you lots to do for little cash. Also I reccommend taking public transportation in Toronto as the Parking can be a real drain on the budget.

California is beautful and has everything you want. Depends what your into. Northern is more scenery and wine country while southern is like Hollywood... There is San Francisco or LA. There is a lot to offer. Also New York would be pretty. Im going to Washington D.C. this coming summer. Also I heard a lot about Canada.

Check around on trip type websites. Sometimes you can get a great deal for little money if you're a little flexible. And, how fun would it be to be flexible? Consider it an adventure and eat peanut butter sandwiches. You will remember the fun, not the food. Personally, I would opt for Virginia Beach. I always had fun there.
