only two sources that I know of, stress, which is cumulative or a reaction to something. I would ask primary care giver for referral to specialist. She could have a systemic infection that needs treated not the symptoms. The knowledge required in today's medicine a GP just cannot keep up. Go to a specialist if symptoms persist.

This is just a vicious cycle. Most Dermatologists will not give Prednisone, due to the complications of side affects. Of course, it's about the only drug that sometimes helps problems, but it is still very dangerous. If she took the 5-7 day pak and gradually decreased dosage over those days, the symptoms would likely disappear, but after a few days or week of not taking the drug, the lesions reappear. Thus, the Dr. will start her all over again on the drug. What the Dr. could have done or could do would be to start off with 10MG daily for 10 days, then reduce the dose to 5MG daily, then to 2 1/2 MG per day and keep her on a low dose, until such time as the hives would run its course. If they reappear on the 2 1/2 MG dose, then up it to 5 MG per day. This would be of great benefit.

The reason her doctor has her on steroids is because he thinks she's allergic to something environmental. But if she's not getting any better after three months, she needs to go to another doc. Hopefully she's been seeing a dermatologist. I wish her luck.

I've had that a few times in my life, but it always went away pretty quickly. One time when I was four, my mother decided I was allergic to fish, which I wasn't. She doesn't like fish. When I was thirteen the doctor said it was poison ivy, which I don't get. When I was about twenty-two, the doctor didn't have any idea what caused it, but he gave me antihistamines that put me to sleep.

maybe she is allergic to something she is eating or her perfume, body wash, lotion, shampoos, laundry detergent... stuff like that. have her make like a record of what she eats or does when she gets off of them and show it to your doctor

It could be an alergic reaction to something? Ask if they changed their laundry detergent or lotion?
