um... man did not flood the planet or strike down the first born sons of Egypt or turn Lot's wife into a pillar of salt. That was all God, and yes, it was evil.

Ok, people, the christian god created all evil, as well as good. In fact, he commits atrocities and even admits that he is responsible for them.
God commanded that all women must have health hazardous labors for Eve ate the fruit. Why should women pay for the wrongdoings of their ansestor, Eve? (Genesis 2:16,47) But wait, there's more!
Genesis 19:23-25 God burns down a whole city (women and innocent children as well...) simply because they were SUPPOSEDLY homosexual.
Genesis38:10 God kills Onan for refusing to commit incest with his sister in law.
God punishses children for the sins of their fathers, spanning to the 3rd and 4th generations. Punishing a child for the sins of their ansestors is not fair to that child, when the child has done nothing wrong. Exodus 20:25&34:7.
Exodus12:19 God repeatedly tells Moses what plauge will fall opon the Egyptians if the Pharaoh does not set the Isrealites free from slavery. Then he tells Moses (repeatedly) to harden the Pharoah's heart, so that he will refuse to release the Isrealites from slavery, thus bringing a plauge opon the Egyptian people. What is so screwed up with that bible verse is that God tells Moses to "harden the Pharoah's heart", he is interfering with the Pharoah's judgement/free will and ultimately bringing punishment to the Egyptians for something they are not responsible for. As a final punishment God decides to kill the first born children of Egypt.... Your so-called good lord reduced himself to murdering innocent children when he could have just as easily freed the Isrealites from slavery himself with his half-assed, ''omnipotent'' power.
Doy you now see why God is being insulted, his so-called good name being tarnished, and Christians were being 'prosecuted' for a good 2 millenia? This is a god that people are worshipping everyday!? The only answer is insanity, those people need to see the real world for what it really is. Religion is a mental crutch to be used in society, some people need it, others don't. People who are mentally weak sometimes rely on religion or deity to make themselves feel important, special. And then when the mentally weak thank the invisible sky deity in Cloud Land for the challenges they overcome by themselves, they think that other people must do the same to reach happiness. Religious people are not moral by any modern standards if they believe in a god like this.........

The answer is that the christian god is not perfect if he commited atrocities like I just told you all, by an intelligent person, he would be considered a sadist. The bible is such a condratictary book, it should not be even read.

i like atheist information for his or her statements. % information? examine the Bible. i might besides say "God exists, learn technology". Please. I examine it. God killed off murderers, rapists, pedophiles, thieves, and so on. devil did no longer intrude. no longer even a peep. So despite if God have been by some skill poor and committing terrible atrocities, devil did no longer even do something to provide up it. He did no longer attempt to guard them, provide them any good advice on the thank you to proceed to exist,... no longer something. He did despite if ask God if he could desire to torment the main ethical guy in the worldwide so he could desire to coach to God that he wasn't incredibly ethical. possibly that counts as intervening. it is why atheists and Christians oftentimes do no longer get alongside. Atheists are so animate approximately attempting to guard the rights of criminals. A united states assaults God's people, specifically women and youngsters. God in turn orders the attack of that particular same united states, consisting of their women and youngsters. Atheists get up and say "Oh it is basically poor! How could desire to God do certainly one of those project!" They shield the murders and rapists and condemn God. it is eye for a watch people. If a united states intentionally kills your women and youngsters, i think we could consistently take a seat by utilising the hearth and sing "Cumbaya" rather of doing some thing approximately it.

Evil is the opposite of God. I am very interested in knowing what atrocities you are referring to.

God does not commit evil atrocities - man does.
Man has polluted the world with sin.

I believe that people have always committed the atrocities...and if you find some account of "cruelty" in the Bible attributed to God, it's *people* that have written that...

What that leaves me believing in is a Creator who tolerates, through love and wisdom, all of the acts that we humans commit in our lifetimes.

Christians give him a free pass on everything. The Bible has tons of built-in excuses for the atrocities God did or commanded. Circular logic at its best: "Anything that God does is Good because God can only do Good!"
