I have heard conflicting report and am looking to get a tv for a dark room, but it can be light because we close the shutters. around 40 inches and within 0-2000 dollars. Is there a certain tv you would recommend, or would you recommend Plasma or LCD. I would watch sports and regular programming and also some action movies.

The NEWER Plasma TV's have a built-in anti-burn-in, or an electronic 'orbitor' if you wish.. Wouldn't worry about it. I'll take the brighter, sharper, very wide view of a Plasma any day!!!! By the time you notice any burn-in, you will want a new set anyway. Plasma is not a 'screen' that is flouresced by electrons like a regular TV, but many tiny diodes with a fast on/off cycle. There are even demos of LCD's 'blurring' on a fast move, that I did not notice on a Plasma screen.!!

My brother the techo nerd wonder (no really he's great) says NEVER buy Plasma because like the old computer mointers an image can be burned into the screen ruining it. IE DVD menus left on for a few hours or a video game background that doesn't change like the old Ateri so I would go LCD.

I havent heard anything about that. But it would be good to have a warranty on the tv just in case something like that did happen. I have a 42 inch plasma and i leave it on alot (while im going to sleep, sleeping) and nothing like that has ever happened to me.

The burn out happens after many years. By that time the plasma will be out of date

Static images can burn in. I had a dispute about this with my sister-in-law and her husband. They said they NEVER would do that. About a month later she had the TV Guide channel on, got a phone call to go shopping and forgot about the TV. Guess what they see every time they turn the set on?
