Keep your DVD player from running through your VCR at all cost, you will run into video problems. Pickup a RF Modulator at Radio Shack or a electronics store of your choice.

Running a DVD player through a VCR will distort your video as the video from a DVD is messy and the VCR will prevent your TV from cleaning up the messy video properly and the picture will fade in and out.

The VCR has cable hooked up through the "antenna IN", right? The co-ax terminal? If it is, hook the DVD player to the RCA video-in and audio-in (video will be yellow, and audio will be red and white). If the cable is hooked up to video-in already, then you're out of luck.

run 3 cables with rca-jacks from the video out, audio right out, audio left out to the video in, audio right in and audio left in on the vcr. You may have to have the vcr on to run it though
