As professional Law enforcement Officers we need to be able to use torture like we always have in the good old days.
If we have a suspect, we need to be able to torture them by all means necessary in order to get them to confess the crimes that they have committed.
We want to make them give up their suppliers, tell us where they have the dope hidden.
Tell us what, where, and when they have committed crimes.
We need the public to support us in our endeavors to fight crime.
We want to stop everyone from smoking dope out there and we need the publics support to use torture.
We have been torturing suspects anyways but a lot of times it results in senseless lititation. We need the money to fight crime.
We need John Q. Publics Support to torture suspects on U.S. soil.
Will you support us, otherwise we'll keep doing it anyway and you the public will have to pay for the lawsuits anyways.
We're just trying to help the public.

I don't believe you are a officer of the law. However if you are why would you ask such a really nutty question? The truth is law enforcement does use torture. Also they already know who the main players in distribution in any given area. I know who they are in my area. Doesn't it make since that the District Attorney and the various law enforcement agencies know. Yet year in and year out the main players don't get touched. Gosh I wonder why? Because they (powers at be) don't want to stop it.
CORRUPTION IN THE LEGAL SYSTEM IS THE REASON THE DRUG TRADE EXISTS. At least to the extent it does. Get a squatter every once in a while but don't touch the Big Boys.
There is a solution to the problem. LEGALIZE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Treat it just like Booze. Take the profit out of selling it. There are not as many by far Moonshiners as there were during prohibition.
If you want to kill a tree (AND I AM JUST USING THIS FOR AN ANALOGY) I would not go pluck a leaf periodically I would go after the roots. So why don't you guys go after the roots? In other words don't treat the symptoms kill the cause. PROFIT!!!
I personallyl do not use any kind of narcotics. I do have enough common sense to know that you as law enforcement are never going to stop usage. You could slow down Crime to a great degree, if that indeed is your motive. Is it?

Again,
The CIA interrogation manual [declassified, readily available] clearly states that physical torture is an ineffective means of extracting information. A subject will merely tell you anything he/she thinks you want to hear to get you to stop hurting them. This makes any information resulting from torture useless.
Sensory deprivation, deception, psychological profiling for the purposes of determining the best way to confuse the subject and various other techniques are very effective, much moreso than torture.
By all means, use the best techniques to extract your information. And those techniques are NOT torture. If you resort to torture anyway, then you're not doing it for the information, are ya? You're doing it because you enjoy it.
Which is exactly the problem these days. It's getting harder and harder to tell the good guys from the bad guys.

Today's your first day here on Y.Answers and Lord only knows how much of your time and energy went into inventing this mock question with your phoney-bolognie law enforecement credentials, but that's your perogative, I guess. I have my own personal opinions about the police, but 8 months of being on this website, there's plenty of REAL cops that have great knowledge and answers on here every day that make it easy to spot a knuckle-head like you in a minute from a true professional. Hopefully the next time I run across you on here you'll have gotten over your senseless utterings.

How about you separate all that pent-up sadism from your misguided priorities - after all, alcohol and tobacco kill more people just in the United States alone every year than all the wars (and the other so-called "dangerous drugs") - in the world combined - and start turning some of that excess negative energy in a positive direction by questioning why the richest country in the world has so many poor, hungry, homeless, and medical care-deprived inhabitants. Less "Make My Day" and more "What Would Jesus Do?" please!

Why would a U.S. law enforcement officer post a question specific to U.S. citizens on a world-wide site where he/she could not authenticate or control the data source?

You really should try to be a bit more realistic if you're going to attempt to impersonate a law enforcement Officer.
