i wonder that everyday! there are some foods that are great tasting and great for you though, like popcorn, salad, yogurt, wheat thins, fruit snacks, and spaghetti. If you have a juicer at home then you can put in a bunch of tasty fruits and then just throw in spinach or broccoli and you wont even taste it because the taste of the fruit overpowers the taste of the nasty green vegetables.

Unfortunately we kind of live in a society that emphasizes food as a means of entertainment instead of just a source of sustenance and energy. Many people use food to make themselves feel better and of course all that good tasting stuff also tastes better to us. What is interesting though is the good tasting stuff that is bad for you gets sort of addictive and is usually so flavorful that it makes the actual good for you food taste boring and blah. And the yummy bad foods are further seen as attractive because treats and food like this are often used as rewards by parents or even ourselves.
But I have actually found that if I stop eating the junk and the bad food for awhile I get used to the good for you foods and find the yummy but bad foods no longer hold as much interest. I think there is a level of getting addicted to the yummy bad foods and once we get it out of our system the healthy food actually tastes pretty good!

because way back when our senses of taste and smell evolved - a good few millions of years ago - what we no regard as bad for us was actually good for us. think about it, the bad for us stuff that tastes nice is mainly greasy and sugary, right? both are high energy foods, fat provides energy for storage to get through leaner times like the winter and sugar provides energy rightaway, enabling us to hunt down prey, run from a predator, fight a competitor, whatever. so back then when we developed a sense of taste enjoying high energy foodstuffs that are now bad for you, was a survival mechanism. now that we get food all year round, find our prey prepacked in the freezer cabinet, do all the hot pursuit business in motorised vehicles and fight our competitors via e-mail this survival mechanism is not good for us anymore, but unfortunately evolution hasn't caught up with that yet. it may well be that in a couple of hundredthousand years or so (if our species still exists then) people will fight their desire to constantly munch on lettuce the way we fight our desires for chocolate because by then evolution will have caught up with the idea that lettuce is good for you and choccie isn't, and given us new flavour preferences.

You have to aquire a taste for most healthy foods.Or you can make it more interesting by preparing it differently. The fact of the matter is salt and fat or sugar and fat are some of the best tasting stuff around. So I'll say what I said and agree with the person that says life sucks at the same time.

Well, I think broccoli tastes pretty good, but I know what you're asking.
The human body is programmed to avoid starvation. If people starve, they can't reproduce, and that would eliminate people. Consequently, our genes allow us to become fat - very fat - because we can still reproduce when fat, and obesity is much less of a threat to living than starvation is. Our genes help out by programming our brains to believe that high fat foods taste good, and our brains encourage us to gorge, not only for the immediate pleasure but also so we don't starve in between feedings. You can learn to control this, but it isn't easy.

Things that taste good are only bad for you in the unnatural proportions we are able to afford.
If you were a hunter/gatherer(50,000 years ago), sweet taste meant fresh and full of energy, savory meant freshly killed and healthy.

It's not. The problem comes that because it is so good, we over indulge in it which then makes it bad for us. Nothings wrong with a little.
