First you have to be assessed by the transplant co-ordinator and if they think you are a suitable candidate then you're on! and, unlike other transplant lists, the appendix list is based on first come first served so if you are strong you can push others out of the way and get if first. Sometimes (depending on your nhs trust) they do mud fighting to see who gets the appendix and you don't even have to win the mud fight because the audience decides who gets the appendix on how good they look covered in mud!!

Oh, there have been so many books written about this! The story you may be thinking of is the recent one out of India, where police are now looking for a doctor who literally STOLE kidneys from poor people and sold them around the world in an organ donation scam. Some years back there came a yarn out of China, too - doctors in hospitals operated by the People's Liberation Army were forcing prisoners to submit to organ removal for sale to the highest bidders. This is the worst kind of human rights violation. It is a sub-rosa reality worldwide, however. And this kind of monstrous behavior won't stop until at last we are able to use regenerative cell therapy and other techniques to end the need for organ transplants. This is yet another good reason for embryonic stem cell research!

I had my appendix removed and I have been physically and mentally ill ever since, don't listen to dummies like jet0001z they read from text books without thinking!

The truth is, why have something in your body that isn't needed ? Health professionals don't know everything, to be honest.. they know very LITTLE!

I doubt you could, you can have your appendix removed and be fine, there is no medical reason for the function of the appendix.
