He needed a bath and was selfish. So he decided to kick all of this planet's creatures out of the tub. God is also a little shy and didn't want anyone to see him naked so he had his buddy Noah build a ship and shove all the animals into it. I wonder how much animal cruelty occured on that party boat.

When God looked down and saw the evil things that mankind was doing he was sorry that He made men and women. There was only one man on earth that was searching for God with all his heart and trying to do what was right. That was Noah. People made fun of Noah just like they make fun of Christians now.
But Noah and his family were the only ones who survived The Creator's first judgment, because they obeyed God, completely trusting His Direction even though it had never even rained on earth before.
We are reaching another countdown in history, right before the time of Christ's (Messiah Yeshua)'s return. Only this time, instead of the Lamb, He is coming as The Lion...with a roar. Those who love Him have nothing to worry about as He returns to Judge the earth. Those who don't...well, that's another story!
Think of the inspiring words of the "Battle Hymn of The Republic" written when America was young, and its leaders honored God instead of kicking Him out of courts and classrooms.
"Mine eyes have seen the Glory of The Coming of The Lord
He is trampling out the vintage where the Grapes of Wrath are stored.
He has loosed the fateful lightning of His Terrible Swift Sword...
His Truth Is Marching On!"

It turns out that in Mesopotamian society, the gods were capricious and sometimes inconsiderate or even cruel to human beings.
In the Mesopotamian story of the Flood, humans have become so common on the surface of the earth that their noise keeps Enlil awake when he wants to sleep. Enlil decides to kill all the humans so he can have some peace and quiet. Another god, Ea, was a little more farsighted. Ea knew that if humans came to an end, sacrifices to the gods would end too. So Ea found a guy named Utnapishtim and told him to build a huge boat. Sound familiar?
The ancient Hebrews wanted to compare and contrast their concept of God with the Babylonian concepts of gods. Therefore, they took the same story and retold it. However, in the Hebrew version there is more emphasis on sin/righteousness and on covenant.
The story is essentially a parable based on a myth.

God is perfect, man Is not, because man was evil God destroyed the earth, then man lived to be hundreds of years old, but now because of evil man will not live past 120 years of age. we don`t have all the answers, a lot of people think believing in God is silly, but their are lots of people that believe in God, If the ones that don`t believe are right, if there isn`t a God no one has anything to lose, BUT if their wrong, WHAT THEN, Hell is very real, is it worth looking into? you better believe it is, If I can live a life that is good, and treat people good, and love all mankind, and go to Heaven, and avoid Hell, which never ends, how can so many people put down something that only wants good?some people never even try to. men have hearts, they have feelings, they cry, they laugh, these are the things of the spirit, its not something thats in the blood, or brain, or the heart that beats, its our soul, our spirit.

A lot of the answers say it is mankind that is not perfect, therefore, God needed to punish us all by killing us all, except for Noah, his family and two of every animal. My question is, why did God, perfect God, create such abominable creatures, those creatures being humans? Why did 100% perfect God willingly and knowingly set about creating a world of heathens that He would eventually wipe out? Were they his test run? My head aches.

It's man who screwed it up, and it was Satan and his fallen angels who messed it up.Should God have made us all robots, doing what we are programmed to do? We have Free-Will in other words we choose,to love God or not.In Genesis 6 the fallen ones(Nephelim)the sons(were)of God (Benni-Eloheim,always refers to angels)mixed with man and created these creepy monsters on one hand ,and almost super human on the other.Flavius Josephus says, these were the ones the Greeks mythologized.Between the murder and the Titans(satans) and all God told Noah,I'll give them 120 yrs to repent ,they didn't so he flushed them. It's very possible this wasn't the first time God had done that, because when He made Adam and Eve,He said "Be fruuitful and multiply and REPLENISH the Earth, get it.Remember...The foolishness of God is wisdom to puny man.

That is of course that there is a God.... and that the earth become flooded due to a long rain event only and not from divine intervention.
It is also unlkely that the entire earth was covered. remember at that time they thought the earth was flat and everywhere they looked was water....
And the reason nothing is perfect...There is no God!

Gods perfection has nothing to do with mans imperfection. He flooded the earth as a punishment for mans sin and imperfection.

God is perfect, but people are not.
He flooded the earth because of all the wickedness that was going on. It was like a batism for the earth. He did that to make it pure.

the sins of mankind are what has made the world the way it is...go read the Bible and you'll see how many chances God gives people....and the story of the flooding gives us assurance that He will come back...even God has His limits...and He made the earth, so He's got all authority to do what He wants with it.

"free will"
"banana infestation"
"he wanted to go for a swim"
You can pick which one of these incredibly well thought out answers you prefer. But keep in mind "oh wow, I hadn't thought of that. Maybe god isn't perfect after all", is not on the list.
