We have to accept that there will always be people who have wrong ideas and beliefs. If we're going to be intolerant of all of them, merely on that basis, there will be no end of conflict. So, the answer is: In principle, it's a desirable trait.

In the spiritual sense, it's desirable to be tolerant of other spiritualities, after all other spiritualities may or may not be tolerant of your own beliefs. I would go a step further, also, and say that tolerance is a desirable trait in all facets of life. It does not mean you agree with the differences you with with other people, but that you respect and "agree to disagree". It's this brotherly love that we need to have across cultures, religions, races, countries, ages, gender, etc....we do this for others regardless of how others treat us and we are on the right path.

I would say it is a desirable trait because everyone has the right to believe in whatever they choose. They just don't have the right to force their beliefs on anyone or harm them for not believing the same thing. We should be tolerant of the differences in people as long as those differences don't hurt others. To be tolerant of it doesn't mean you condone it, but it means you have chosen to agree to disagree while still being friendly or at least civil to one another.

It is a desirable trait. I admit, that I am not always tolerant and for that, I am wrong. I do try. I really do try. I have no problem with any ones religion, until they think that they can judge who is going to hell. You are not like that. I wish I was more like you in so many ways. Helen Keller said, "One of the benefits of education is tolerance". Smart lady. I think you are an example of a religious man, who has compassion for all.

Desirable. A lot of wars are started because the 2 countries have different religions.

I would have to say that it is a desirable trait. What harm does tolerance do?
It's intolerance that is responsible for pain and suffering and religious intolerance that starts wars and ends in witch hunts.

We need to reexamine our tolerance for intolerant religions.

Yes tolerance is always a desirable trait. It does not neccesarily imply one agrees with them only that one has decided to agree to disagree and respect anothers choice.

Most religions are inherently intolerant of all others.

Tolerance of intolerance is not in the long-term best interest of our species.
