I've only used Advantage for cats. For my big outside dogs I use Frontline. They make it for BIG dogs. My outside dogs are Great Pyrs which are 100lbs and over.
Good luck and Goddess Bless!

Advantage is really safe. I use one tube on my 93 lb. Rottie, but if you are still seeing a lot of fleas, apply it every two weeks for a couple of doses. And make sure you are applying it directly to the skin in 4-5 places along the back to speed spreading. This is the new directions the sales reps told us about. Try not to bathe him too often, as you will wash some of the product off. And get some Capstar from your vet. It is a pill that will kill all the fleas on him in about an hour. You can give it every few days until your flea problem is under control.

where does Ur big dog go that Ur little dog does not?
this sounds like an environmental problem, and YES< U can overdose Ur dog.
to get rid of fleas OUTside, a safe non-toxic is nematodes: tiny wormlike critters that eat the fleas, the eggs, and their larvae.
see organic gardening or natural pest-control to find suppliers.
INdoors, a safer alternative is to vaccuum the WHOLE HOUSE, dumping the bag IMMEDIATELy afterwards. fleas can jump right back out of the vaccuum, and eggs will be in theire, too.
vaccuum very thoroughly, at least 2x a month, tossing the whole bag each time.
get the cracks in the floors, the furniture the dogs lie on, etc.
Diatomaceous Earth, used in swimming-pool filters, is another safe, non-toxic indoor-alt; gently scatter on floors and inside any upholstered furniture; U may want to wear a mask, cuz U don't want to inhale the dust. leave it in place for at least 5 days, then vaccuum thoroughly and gently; DUMP BAG right away.
don't -sweep- diatomaceous earth, or bang the sofa cushions; it's too dusty!! just use the vaccuum; a CREVICE TOOL, the skinny angled thing, works really well in sofa corners, etc.
STEAM is non-toxic, and kills fleas and larvae and eggs. a hand-held steamer can be rented pretty cheap, or bought for abt $60 or less; i got one for $30 at Big Lots.
bathing a dog with any ordinary shampoo, and allowing the lather to stand on the dog for at least 5 mins, is an easy, non-toxic way to get rid of fleas; they drown.
U can bathe a dog as often as every 10 days... and use a gentle shampoo, like an oatmeal dog-poo. NO NEED for 'flea-killing' shampoos, they are very harsh and quite toxic - who wants to wash their dog with pesticide and then pet them!? Eek!
a clean dog is nice to touch... and garlic is a good immune-booster, as well as a deterrent to fleas.

Try using the frontline for dogs over 100 lbs. Make sure you use it every 30 days though. Also if you want to stick with advantage and just use more doses, you CANNOT overdose your dog on flea prevention. Even if they ingest it. IT WILL NOT HARM THEM. Anyone who tells you that has no clue what they are talking about.

sturdy quiestion! I easily have had both little and vast canines. I at the moment have a Jack russel/poodle?Chuaua. he's amazingly scared, yet might want to be very playful. preserving him and his cuteness is an advantage. he's a lap canines, and he sleeps with me. He does notrun away, we've him off the leash each and every of the time. he's playful round different canines and folk. vast canines- they prefer alot of exersise. a minimum of 60 minutes an afternoon. otherwise, they are going to be too hyper! maximum are sturdy canines. they could be those you would possibly want to take searching. in case you fairly favor a searching canines, i recommend a beagle, yet they don't look canines that prefer to take heed to!! in case you do favor a huge canines, the lab is all love P.s Pomeranians are little devils, yet they are gorgeous!:) sturdy success Summa
