No such thing as being un-born again. A person who claims they used to be Christian, but now are not, never were. The bible says this in 1John: "if they say they were one of us, but go out from amongst us, they were never one of us". A person may be able to fool themselves; no one can fool God.

Once you have accepted God's gift of salvation and repeated of your sins, you are saved for all eternity. Now, being human, we all have the tendancy to back-slide from acting as if we are saved. But true salvation is forever. Some people go through an emotional experience and think they have been saved, but you must repent and confess publically before the act of salvation is complete. The great thing is that God is always willing to forgive and let you "start over!"

You'd have to define saved. If you think you were saved yet still willingly break God's Commandments then you were probably never saved in the first place. To be saved means to have a regenerated heart, to become a new creation, to love what God loves and hate what God hates. For example, if you think you were saved yet still loved your sin whether it be having premarital sex, disobeying parents, coveting other's possesions, using God's name in vain, etc, then you were probably not saved.

If you truly want to be saved you must repent of your sins and trust Jesus to save you from God's wrath on the Day of Judgment. You don't just repent once, but you continue repenting for the rest of your life. Being a Christian is beautiful in that you are forgiven in Christ, but it is not a license to sin.

Once you are saved you can never be lost. But you can turn your back on God and still be condemned to hell. A Christian can always repent and follow him. U just can't turn your back on him completely and totally and forever and expect to reap all the rewards just because you said some words one time. Being saved is not so much about what comes out of your mouth but what comes out of your heart. Even if you fell off the peverable wagon you can still climb back on. you just have to do it with sincerity and try as hard as you possably can not to fall off again.

If a person is truely saved, he is indwelled by the Holy Spirit, right?

The Holy Spirit cannot lie, right?

So, for a saved person to say "I'm not saved anymore," or "I don't believe anymore," the Holy Spirit would have to lie, right?

Mutually exclusive. Either the person is, & will forever be, or the person ain't, & never was.

I asked a question a while back about being saved on Mondays and Wednesdays and Saturdays, and rejecting God the rest of the week. Got some interesting answers, looks like you did too.

Well, if you're a Calvinist - then the angel writes your name down with an ink pen. If you're not a Calvinist, he writes your name down with a pencil.

This is an old debate which has been going for 400+ years. I doubt you'll solve it here on Y! Answers. I personally believe that you can choose to walk away if you want to.

I believe that once you are saved, you are always saved. Jesus died for our sins before we were even born, so, it was before we sinned. If we could lose our salvation, then Jesus would have to come back and die for our sins again. That does not make sense, right? We will sin every day, but we don't lose our salvation, thanks to our Heavenly Father!! God bless!

Yes there is such a thing as backsliding. That's what the parable of the prodigal son is about.
