If I'm shopping at a local grocery store, how do I know which foods are Kosher? I heard there is supose to be a symbol on the label which lets you know.

Some larger chain grocery stores have a "kosher" section in one of the aisles. If it doesn't it will be marked on the package/container/jar with a "K" or the word kosher on the label.

And to the person who said about becoming a vegetarian, not just meat is kosher. There are other foods that are kosher too.

A captial K with a circle around it is the production symbol for Kosher.

It is marked as kosher. You also need to know whether it is parev (neither milk or meat) so that if you decide to eat one or the other, you don't mix it.

Keeping separate plates will help to avoid the mixing of the milk and meat since that is also one of the most important points to keeping kosher.

It will definitely be a symbol on the container saying hot if its hot.If not its kosher.

Here's a better idea: become a vegetarian and refrain from eating animals that are killed by barbaric methods such as slitting its throat.
