Over the past several years there are times when I have heard my name called clearly and loudly, although for some reason I am aware that the voice it is coming from far away. It wakes me from a sleep and I usually answer, only to find out everyone else is still sleeping. Once, me and my husband were called at the very same time, both of us jumped out of the bed and were headed for the door when we realized my kids were still sleep.
Additional,,I mentioned this to my mom and she said that growing up her elders told her to never answer these calls.

I should also add that I'm never fearful, and usually have no difficulty falling back to sleep. But it did puzzle me the time my husband and I both heard our own names because he said he was called by his given birth name, not the name he uses now. And to the person that asked about my mom, she said she was told it was the devil calling, so don't answer!

Girl, that's the Lord talking you, he's trying to get you're attention in order for you to do something he has for you! Don't ignore Him, read Samuel and find out what he did. You'll find that there's a plan for you, yet the LORD needs you 2 hear, acknowledge and react to His call. He would never lead us astray!! God Bless

I experience many things, starting to get use to it now.
I heard a few different times my name whisper in my ear, but than again I see Ghost and Spirits, one SPIRIT white and glowing talk to me very beauitful voice, my son is young, she sometimes comes to me when he needs me or my son's in some kinda danger, she woke me once pulling my blanket off me, slow and gentle, perhaps not to wake me, cause my son lost his blanket, he was sleeping on it. So perhaps it's a Spirit guide or a family relative either looking over you or trying to give a message, people like your mother are scare of the unknown, because they don't understand the spiritual world. They are everywhere, if I don't see them I feel them, now that their talking to me, it's time for me to talk back and ask question since it's getting stronger.
Do you notice it happening more after strong prayer, cause Spirits are spiritual, they do hear your prayers like God does, God is Spirit too:) especially if their white and glow it's a good sign their from heaven, if you get to see them, they usually touch very nice, my girfriend got a lower back rub, one touch me nice on the top of my head, that was from the woman, believe to be my Spirit guide, another the last one that came around, white and glowed, held my hand as I sleep, I felt it, and force to wake myself to see nothing, but he was near me days before, so I'm thinking it was him, perhaps an uncle.
Sometimes it may feel scary at first, but if it happens a lot to you, you start to understand more about the spiritual stuff.
I believe God and, pray all the time, Prayer is very very strong, things usually happen, so I have to be careful what I pray for:)
I felt God 's presence once and what he said to me in my head.

You know this has happened to me several times. When I am laying in bed about to fall asleep I heard my name being said, but it was close by. It has been mostly a womans voice, and it was very unfamiliar and beautiful. I also heard a man and woman talking but I couldn't understand what they were saying. It was weird. Pretty cool though.

Yes, I've experienced it too. I'll be walking and hear my name, so I turn around and no one is there.
The only thing that I heard about it is not to answer the call, because it is the devil.
I don't quite believe that though.. but I'm interested in what other people have to say about this as well.

A couple of times while sitting up at night in my old house, I'd hear someone whisper in my ear. Usually it sounded jumbled, but one time it was definitely my name being whispered to me. But I was always awake when that happened.

I grew up in Tennessee and around here that supposedly happens after you invoke the Bell Witch. She'll call out to you and she'll even call on the phone and no one will be on the other end. Spooky!

Sorry can't help you here. Never in my life have I ever heard of this or came across someone with this experience. It's prob just a dream. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Yes I have but my not far away, mine sounds like it in reach (close)
I alway feel stupied when I go in a room where people are and say WHAT,
They look at me like I am Crazy, and say I didn't say anything..

I've experienced this and most of the time, in my belief, its our Guardian angel, either telling us to get up and move in order to prevent disaster or to startle the evil one who is creeping up, waiting to attack.
