I have heard that it is more helpful. It takes more energy for your body to warm up the cold water. I don't know exactly how much it contributes to weight loss but I guess every little bit helps!

They are right your body will have to work to warm it up. I do doubt that that process will burn many calories though. If you are talking about drinking cold water during workouts-don't. Cold water is absorbed much more slowly by the body, so keeping dehydrated will take longer.

In a way yes, because your body has to expend energy to heat up the cold water, so this also raises your metabolism.

i've heard that cold water goes to the muscle faster than warmer water.. warmer water tends to stay in the stomach longer
