I'm not attempting to isolate or blame anyone for incorrect grammar usage. I'm simply curious as to why it's so difficult for most people to form basic sentences. I've attended public schools throughout my life, and I'm capable of using basic grammar. Spelling errors are extremely common on Yahoo! Answers, as well. I'm puzzled as to the frequency of these errors.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who feels this way!!
Unfortunately, people are lazy. However, I believe there are a few other factors at play here. In addition to sheer laziness, poor grammar and slang forms of words have been socially accepted and expected. Granted, words change over time throughout all societies, but do we really sound more intelligent by spelling words the easy way? For example, what would you honestly think of a resume that included words like "skillz" or "UR" and phrases like "I seen Billy at the mall. He wuz wearin a new hat."
People simply need to stop making it acceptable. Cutting corners when text messaging is one thing, but letting those chopped up words leak into everyday speech is another.

For many, English is a second language, so syntax and spelling is difficult to get right.
Others have "Instant Messaging" mentality, something that will probably get worse as the generation ages.
Still others simply don't care. They're anonymous, and they're typing while watching the latest music video anyway.
Lastly, many are just stupid. The latest test scores show a significant percentage of students can't operate at an 8th grade level in English or Math. They don't even know what half of the keys on a keyboard are for.

Many didn't pay much attention in English writing class obviously. Since a great deal of users use wrong grammar, it's become an acceptable norm. Most people would prefer to post their answers rather than going through another annoying step of checking their spelling. Most don't even read the preview page, but just click straight to the posting page.

I agree that it is annoying. I think it comes from two different things. Some people on Yahoo! Answers are extremely young and do not realize they are making a mistake. Others think they are being cool by abbreviating their words as a type of slang. I personally can't stand it, it sometimes makes it difficult to understand what a person is asking.

I totally agree with your sentiment (but I do have to admit I just had to spell check that one)

I actually think my grammar/spelling has improved from consistent typing because I'm always careful to use good grammar, punctuation and spelling. Now it just kinda' comes natural.
