What color is your hair now? Very important to know.

If it is a brown shade and you bleach it to a lighter color, you will wind up with red tones unless you use a color that has a lot of ash tone in it.

If your hair is a blond shade that is at the strawberry/reddish end of the spectrum, you need to go with an ash blond color. There is an additive sold in beauty supply stores (called a "drabber" that will keep the red or gold colors to a minimum. You add it to the color before you put it on your hair.

Hair color is a pretty "iffy" thing, especially if you haven't done any coloring before. Therefore, if you want a result that is not iffy, I would go to a beautician to have my hair colored. Less risk. More happy endings. :)

1. Red is a VERY tricky color.
2. People that dye their own hair deserve what they get (sorry, but they do. If you can't afford to do it right, don't do it, but especially with red.)

Go treat yourself once at a salon to get rid of the red then you can more easily maintain it yourself after that.

When you bought your hair dye, you should've also got a booster. It helps bring out the color of the dye when done just right

most hair dyes have a bleach component in them, so they'll give you exactly what color is on the box of hair dye. The easiest way to get rid of your red tone is to bleach it out.
