the only thing preventing me from killing myself is that it is a sin,
because soul was granted to you by god, and he will take it back when he wants.
not up to you to determine your life time because there is already someone who decides that.
peace

Killiing oneself is so sad and cowardly. It leaves behind family members who will carry this sadness to their graves. If the suicide victum has left behind children , then the children will suffer from the thought of what the parent did. Good chance that the children will follow and do the same. If the suicide victum, leaves behind a Mother and Father, then the sadness will overwhelm them so much, that it could cause their early death, from grief. So the answer to you question is: Suicide is killing oneself. It says as one of the Commandments, Thou Shalt not Kill. That includes ourselves. I don't know if we could call it a crime, because the victum is dead and there is no one to arrest. As far as being a sin, yes, it is considered a sin, to kill anyone or yourself. It is one of the worse things a person can do, to self and family. The grief never goes away and the question is why ? Life is not that bad, that one has to harm themselves or others. Read the Bible. Get help from someone who cares. Think positive and if your down and out, get up and change your life. If your in a terrible relationship, then walk away. Do like the Navajho do- walk away and don't turn back. Ask God to help give you the strength to go on and follow in His footsteps. Ask and Ye Shall Recieve. God doesn't give you anymore then you can handle. So it is all up to you. Our lives were never a promised Rose garden. We need to take a hold and turn it around and then Give Thanks Unto the Lord. Death is so final. Who wants to be in a grave ? Pick yourself up and dust yourself off, then be happy to be alive. I will pray for you and PLEASE don't think suicide. It is so awful for the ones left behind. Take care and may God bless you and your LIFE , Always !!

If a person is in intractable pain with a terminal illness; then, it is NOT a sin. If you have ever done a deathwatch with a child writhing in agony, day after endless day, you would never contemplate suicide as a sin in such a situation. I have had 3 friends end their lives because the suffering...physical suffering..... could not be lessened with morphine in constant drip form. Until you have been in that position, you have no right to quote any religious dogma about sin. You would be surprised how many humans end up in these horrific pain dilemas...many of whom are good Christians, Jews, aethesists, agnostics, Muslims, or whatever, and will do ANYTHING to stop the pain. This phenomenon is far more common than most people realize. And, to make matters worse, often the patient cannot do anything to end his life because he is too weak at that point.

If someone frivolously takes his own life....then, it is between G-d and his own conscience. No one has the right to judge this. But so far as those who are in really dreadful pain states, death is peace to them. I would hope it would be forgiven.

Suicide is a sin, because you're aren't living your life for you, you're living it for God. You have no right to decide when you go. He made you so when He takes you that's that. And as for the extent of the punishment for suicide, it is no greater nor less than any sin, for a sin is a sin is a sin.

The bible talks about suicide as being very wrong.

I can't say what the punishment will be if you do it.

There is only ONE named unforgiven sin named in the Holy Bible and suicide is not it.............

However for the one that crazy and mental ill, would he have mercy on there soul?

Only He knows the answer.

it is a sin to commit suicide, since your life is not yours to take, and the soul of the person who does it will have to account for his actions to G-d (which will be embarassing, i bet) and perhaps maybe start a new life and try to do better next time.

i think its a crime in canada, and they put you into rehabiliation to try and stabilize you before you are released.

God is the creator of life.

Man was created in the image of God.

The greek word for sin is amartia. The "a" prefix means "not". The root word "mart" means "faithful" or "witness".

Thus, the greek word for sin designates someone who is not faithful to what God created them to be.

Since God created life, for someone to take his own life is to do something very much unlike God.

Therefore that person is unfaithful to the image of what he was created to be.

Therefore, it is sin because it is not aligned with the nature of God.

Killing yourself is murder. You murdered your own self instead of another person. It's definitely a sin. I don't have any idea if it's a crime.

It's a sin and a crime. Even worse, it's a sin you can't repent for.
