Exercise some self-discipline. Don't allow yourself to do anything you enjoy (TV, computer chat, video games, reading, etc...) until your homework is finished. When faced with sitting and staring at the wall or doing your homework, which will you choose?

The fact that you're asking this question shows a great deal of maturity. Follow through and make yourself do your homework. You'll thank yourself later.

Positive reinforcement:
If you get it done, you get a reward. If you get it done sooner and it's all correct, you get a better reward.

If you are living with your parents have them set up a reward system for you. When you were little it may have been stars. If you are on your own try, "every thing I like doing is a reward" If you get the homework done immediately, you can go hang out with your friends, surf the Internet, treat yourself to a latte/smoothie/boba etc.

OR try starting off with an energy drink. It just may kick start your "Homework Focus". Then there is "Focus Factor" supplements and it's generic copies.

Self discipline vs self indulgence.

The only people that I've known that were successful at overcoming the motivation issue told me, they made it the first thing they would do, part of their routine. Like some people drop the keys, change cloths, plop on the couch, feed the pets. Like you have a routine to get ready for school, so this is your routine for getting ready for the evening. Well, some people with this problem decided to consider it as what they do when they get home. Like they aren't fully home until the homework is done. After which they are FREE! (Then they feed the pets and themselves.) Some schools have open libraries, so a few I knew decided to go there like it is their next class, whip through their homework and then "school is over". The library thing only works for people like you. The rest of the people have to spend hours doing what you can do in minutes so they get kicked out before they are done.

Good luck with your homework burnout.

First of all, you have begun with a potential for excellence. You have the much needed brain power that few can acknowledge. Just read any homework you have and MORE in a casual way. This will accommodate your exposure to the material involved. This is what I do. I read the entire book even if I have to skim through it. Then I go back and do assignments for class. Since I have already familiarized myself with the assignment that is soon to be turned in to my class, it is easy. This is a plus. I have really retained the information that I have been exposed to and thus the learning is wonderful. Above all, there is nothing wrong with you. Remember this, "If God be for us, who can be against us?" - Romans 8:31. Peace and God Bless.

I have the same exact problem. And when I say that, I mean it.

Hmm... to get motivation... this is what I have to do sometimes...

I tell myself that I won't be able to do anything (watch TV, go on the internet or anything) until I get it done. Homework goes by fast this way, lol.

Homework IS important, though. That's the thing that sucks about it.. haha.

Well, anyway... good luck!

I just do it. For years I didn't bother to do my work. Finally, I was kicked out of school for my terrible grades, I went back to school the following year to take Grade 11 all over again and all my friends were graduating. Now I"m in Grade 12 and I'm still in school. All my friends are at College.

I do my homework now. Even though I hate doing it, I JUST DO IT! The faster you work and the harder you work, the less you have to suffer.

When I'm at school I concentrate on my work. I finish it as fast as I can, as well as I can. Same with tests. 'cos I hate schoolwork in general I don't want to spend my evenings doing them. But I realized the faster you finish it, the better grades and the better attitude and mood.

Teachers always told me I wasn't living up to my potential so now I am. It kind of feels good. They always ask my opinion in class and whatnot.

Well looks like we're in the same boat... just face reality and know your consequences. Maybe even considering having to face these consequences can be motivation.

For instance, I now have to pay before I can retake a class I failed simply due to laziness and falling in love, this is hopefully a wake up call for myself!

Good Luck!

I was in your shoes when I was in school. I eventually realized that I wanted to make something out of myself and went to medical school. The road was bumpy and hard. I made it hard on myself because I wasn't prepared for college. I didn't have the discipline or know how to study. What you need to know is that life is much harder than school. If you don't develop discipline and drive in school you are more likely to fail in life or fail to meet your potential. On the other hand, if you excel in school, study hard, and are at the top, people will seek you out, doors will open and you will be more likely to do what you want to do in life.
It is hard to connect school to what you want to do in life but that is how you can find motivation. Good luck!

Make yourself a schedule of what homework needs to be done and for when. Get one of those big desk calendars from Staples and stick to it. Plus get off this site. I have wasted soo many homework hours by answering 'just one more question'. Turn your computer off now and do your homework! I'll go do mine.

Listen to "eye of the tiger" and try visuallizing your homework as running some stairs. Each assingment done is a step closer to the finish line.
