Has the story where the pope says Islam is evil for it's use of violence and conversion by force.

While I agree bad things are evil, I also think the pope is a moron for oposing disease stopping condoms for moral reasons.

Is this the start of another goddam holy war?

I say flush both religions down the toilet at http://flushaholybook.com

The correct soultion there would be to flush all the moronic religious leaders and let the true believers worship God.

Religious leaders are the true cause of division and hypocrisy in any religious or spiritual belief.

"Is the pope right to criticise Islam? " Yes, absolutely.

Speaking in Germany, the Pope quoted a 14th Century Christian emperor who said Muhammad had brought the world only "evil and inhuman" things.

I dont see anything wrong in stating the truth.
Yes, the pope is a moron, like mohammed.

Yes, flush the religious (war making) fairy stories ... or have a weekly "Holy Book Fire"

While it was stupid of him to quote such an obviously flawed view, according to this article, he really didn't say anything against Islam, just quoted something. Some of the Muslim community has just taken this quote and ran with it. To me, it doesn't seem any worse than anything, popular and well respected Imams have said about Catholicism. Two wrongs don't make a right, but pointing at each other, when both sides people have wronged, doesn't make any sense! Create another post with something a popular Imam has said about Christianity and see what happens!

The Christian faith is no stranger to a violent past (that some present day believers seem to want to resurrect). The Muslim nations are still centuries behind (death by stoning for unfaithful women - Christians go over that long ago). The teachings of each of those religions encourage nonacceptance of the other. So yes in those terms the Pope is right. Just as Muslim are right according to their teachings.
Maybe we need a more accepting doctrine.

The Church's position on sexuality has been stupid for decades, maybe centuries; even nominal adherents to the faith recognize it as silly. The Pope's comments on Islam are out to lunch also. I do not pay enough attention to the Pope's utterances to have noted whether he has said anything useful. The Muslims that I know are nice folks, but that is not because of Islam -- but in spite of it.

there is certainly a section of Islam that promotes violence... I would not blame the local Methodist church for what the Klu Klux Clan is up to

however Islam and Christianity are fundamentally different in several ways. Jesus death on the cross and the adoption as children of God is at the heart of salvation in the New Testament but squarely denied in the Koran... so it would be no surprize that there would be disagreement, hopefully civil

Being your name is Flush, then the only thing left to flush is YOU !
The Pope is not a moron, but all the ones who will not listen nor take his advice. Shame on you, for taking the Lords, name in vain. I say Flush, Flush, Flush you down the camode. I am not a Catholic, but I highly respect his wonderful sermons and advice to the heathens in this world. I will pray that you will soften your heart. Don't be so mad and cold hearted. Take care and may God bless you and your way of thinking.

No. The pope is a spiritual zero. Christianity is the lowest rung on the spritual ladder.

Religions were designed to keep man ignorant of his own inner spiritual light. God is within.

Religions have divided mankind and are the cause for his downfall.
