I believe that someone I know has this disease and they are mentally and emotionally abusing a person that is close to me. What are the steps to proving this disease (or whatever it is) and getting this person the help that they need?

it is a very difficult illness to diagnose. I have dealth with patient's whose family member's exhibit signs. Families would stop giving medicines that are needed. There is very limited things that you can do. My question is what is your relationship to the patient and family member? What proof do you have?

I would let the patient's doctor know. I would let other family know. If there ever is a hospitalization, I would let the hospital know

There is a nonfiction book by Janice Erlbaum called Have You Found Her: A Memoir that is about her interactions with a young woman with Munchausen's. It was emotionally a really difficult read. I have read a number of other books with a chapter on Munchausen's, but this is the only one I know of where the whole book is about a person with Munchausen's.
