Dog's do not have flesh eating germs.

I believe you are thinking of certain types of bacteria that break down organic matter.

This will only happen in deceased organisms... as living organisms have white blood cells to fight this off...
This happens everyday to billions of micro organisms in the body that we never discuss and most we probably do not even know about. So a dog's lick is about as harmless as bad breathe (from the dog)

I'm with you, I have a strict rule - a dog can lick my hand, my feet, whatever. But not my face. That's just not allowed.

I know that human saliva has enzymes that help break down food, and keep the mouth clean. I would guess that dogs do, too. But whatever germs are in dog saliva aren't really harmful to humans.

But if a dog were to lick you, wash afterwards, certainly before handling food, but you don't need panic.

This is not true dogs have a natural antibiotics in there tongue and this is why they lick their wounds to help them heal, dogs also lick your face not out of love but in the hope that you have food particles round your mouth that they can get a taste of and you should not let them do this because they eat nasty things like poo and i think dogs have a better immune system and stronger stomach than we do because we could not eat half the things they do without getting really sick

Thats ridiculous! Have you ever seen anyone with a half eaten face from a dog licking them? Didn't think so. If that was true their own skin would be melting off them? A dogs mouth is one of the cleanest of mammals

In your case it was probably doing a food test.
A man takes his dog to the pub and it spend all evening licking his testicles.Towards the end of the night the landlord leans over and says"I wish I could do that" to which the man replies"Give him a biscuit and he might let ".

My dog has hair eating bacteria in her saliva. I let her lick my face so I don't have to shave.
