best thing I have ever done, next to becoming a father and husband. JUST GET A GUARRANTEED JOB! DO NOT SIGN THE DOTTED LINE W/O THIS!TUSKER9E- We have a navy to be a force around the world at a moments notice. We can have a floating airport anywhere in the world in a matter of days. We have subs that can watch shipping lanes and rogue countries w/o even being noticed. We have cruisers and destroyers that can launch missiles before jets can even take off from the runway. Oh and by the way whomever controls the oceans controls commerce. The Navy protects this.

Here is a funny little thing that was passed around while I was in the navy. We found it to be very true at the time but it is all good. I was in for 6 years and wish now that I had stayed in. It was a good job and plenty of time to have fun. Once you are out of boot camp, it is very much like any other job. Just work hard and you'll have a good experience in the navy.

BTW I wish you "fair seas and following winds". You don't have to but you might like to bone up on some sailor talk and navy history prior to going in.

That's a pretty broad question......It depends on what you want to get out of it. I was in for 4 years and enjoyed all the traveling I got to do and all the different cultures. I went in for that reason and college money and don't regret one day of it. It wasn't for me as a career but it's not bad that way either for some people. There are lots of different specialties and jobs you can learn so overall it's a good experience. And I was stationed on land as well as 2 years on an aircraft carrier so I got to see both aspects of it.

As a 1st Class Petty Officer (hospital corpsman) I can say it was amazing after boot camp. I was on an aircraft carrier and the rooms are small and the beds are uncomfortable but the job is the greatest protecting our country and seeing the world and knowing that everyday you are doing something great not for just yourself but your country. If you could only see what is over there, I was in Afghanistan for over 6 months and I thank God everyday for what I have. If you have any more questions IM me.

The water is wet and salty. I suggest not eating a full meal your first time out to see because your meal you will see again. I highly recommend riding the waves though. (thats a slang term for Navy women)

I will be perfectly honest with you. I personally feel it is the worst possible time to join the military. It looks like we are heading straight into world war 3, which will probably involve nuclear weapons.
