I have a friend...he says that he's a Christian, but he doesn't believe that the Bible stories are 100%...he says it doesn't matter if the stories happened or not, because the Bible isn't a history book...it's a book of teachings...he says the stories are there to teach us how to live....but I believe everything the Bible says...he brought up a point that the Bible never mentions dinosaurs, but it's been proven they existed...but I think if you ask questions, then you're going to Hell...who's right? Shouldn't a real Christian accept what the Bible says?

Everyone has the right to ask about the Bible. That Book is a book of Faith and not so much about facts. It is more of getting lessons, inspirations and guidance to our lifes' journey than finding if the stories really happened or not. It is not a sin to ask about the Bible. In fact you have all the right to do so. To take you away from blind acceptance. While there is blessing to believe, there is also a wisdom in doubting. Talking about Dinosaurs, the book was written by inspired writers obviously after the great deluge that extinguishes all the lives before the first writings was done. The Old Testament was written by the Jews, for the Jewish people and naturally they will write about their lives as they were told from their generation to generation. If ever the world have been involved , it was in the latter period when the religions started propagating the Book. The irony actually is that the origin of the Book came from the Book of Torah of the Jewish faith and when they (First, the Romans) propagate the religion, they even tried to call the the Jews as ungodly if not pagan.

A bible beleiving individual (not nessecarily a Christian) should beleive and accept what the bible says, but if they want to use the bible to lead them to a more fullfilling and pleasure filled life then they should ask, so that they can better understand and comprehend. The bible is about personal growth and some people are the type that are willing to accept all the more easily and there are some that have a thousnad and one questions and need answers-and both are great ppl. In regard to the dinosaurs there are many that peopel that they did in fact exist and were wiped out during the flood during Noah's time. Your friend is true that the bible is not a story book, but rather a book of commandments but the stories ARE still very important and each have a significant meaning to their inclusion in teh bible. remember, G-D was picky with each word, so any "extra" letter in there is for a reason. This is only a brief synopsis on what i have to say concerning this matter. Feell free for you, or your friend, to contact me regarding this issue. good luck.

Wow dude, you got a lot of questions here, but here goes.

1. The Bible is 100% factual. It is a historical book and it includes teachings. It was written by 44 authors who were all inspired by God to write what they did. That is why the Bible is so consistant in its teachings.
2. The Bible doesn't mention dinosaurs because they were probably wiped out by then and "dinosaur" is a word we invented in the past 200 years. But the Bible does make references to a "bohemeth" and "leviathan" probably dinosaurs.
3. You can ask all the questions you want, the Bible is full and rich in answers and no, you won't go to hell if you ask questions. Its ok.
4. A real Christian should accept the Bible 100%. You can't pick and choose what parts you like and what you don't like. God doesn't make that an option. These are his rules, live by them or don't. That's it.
5. I applaud you for struggling against the desire to be bisexual. It's a hard thing to deal with I'm sure. But God isn't angry at you, that's a lie from the devil. The devil wants us to feel bad about ourselves and what do we do? We have the same reaction adam and eve had, we try to hide ourselves from God, we try to distance ourselves from him. When what we should be doing is running to him and telling him the truth. God can free you of that temptation over time and as you grow in faith in him. God made a man to be with a woman. It's a beautiful thing. But sin will try to creap in wherever it can, so keep away from things and people that bring that sin nature out of you. And yes, God loves you very much. He made you in his image. He looks at you and smiles and forgives you when you fail before you ask. He died for you, and me, and asks us to live for him.

Greetings friend,

The bible is, infact many books, not just one. Some of the books are letters (like the Epistles in the new testament), some of the books are poetry (like Pslams and Song of Solomon), and some of the books are, infact, history.

Some examples of history books include: Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1&2 Kings, 1&2 Chronicles, the Gospels about Jesus Christ, and Acts.

The bible is a history of *people* though - and specific people - the Chosen people of God: Israel and later, the Gentiles are invited to join God's family through the blood of Jesus. The bible is not meant to be a science textbook or a catalog of species.

If you are truly curious about dinosaurs, check out these websites:
http://www.clarifyingchristianity.com/dinos.shtml
http://www.answersingenesis.org/docs/2.asp

There is nothing wrong with asking questions! But I think the more you research the more you will realize that alot of problems that people have with the bible are merely superficial and due to a lack of research and understanding!

God bless you, friend on your quest to live a life that honors God! :)

why would you be going to hell if you ask questions?

the bible never mentions dinosaurs? what about the leviathon? if you read Job 41 does this not sound like god is describing a dragon, fact is, I remember in the first bible I had it said dragon. has anyone seen a leviathon??
If God spoke of them, surley, they exist, or existed!! What about the dragon in revelation chapter 12? are dragons not a dinosaur?? what catagory to they fit in if not dinosaurs?

Shouldn't a real Christian accept what the bible says?? sure, but who's interpretation of it? if you don't understand, do you not need someone to teach you? should you believe what they say or should you objectivley question it, or even take it to God in prayer and ask for knowledge?

Here is the best advice I can give you: James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

As Far as being Bi sexual. I applaude your trying to change. you are indeed right, yes, God loves all, but it is also clear those who practice sexual immorality, homosexuality and the like will not get into heaven. (Gal 5:19-21) if you need help with your struggle against bi sexual sin you can go to www.settingcaptivesfree.com and enrolling in the DOOR OF HOPE course. this is a free course. Blessings

Dinosaurs have not been proven to have existed. there are bones and the rest is conjecture. There were huge animals indeed but "science" is always changing the prehistoric story as it learns more .

There was no knowledge of dinosaurs at the time of the writing.....It didn't mention dolphins, either...or the aztec indians...so what? I think there is a pissibility that dinosaurs could have been similar to demons or beasts that are mentioned in the bible.

No one is going to hell if one's concept of the bible differes from the other. You should ask questions and tery to answer them by reading the bible and doing your best to understand what you are reading.

That is a good question, and the basis of most of the infighting between Christians. I believe Jesus when he said that 'more light would be revealed' and interpret that to mean that as time passed we would gain more insight into what it means to follow Christ (while more conservative Christians say we would just get more light to read the scripture by.. however... the Christian Bible wasn't even written down yet.. so...). I believe to follow the Bible and only the Bible is to limit God.

Both of you are right. He still loves you even though you're bi, but I know he wants you to change. He wants you to follow his word. As for the bible not mentioning dinosaurs, well it doesn't actually say "dinosaurs", but there are some hints as to whether they existed at that time or not. There is a verse somewhere in the bible (I can't remember where) that speaks of an animal with legs as tall as trees. Dinosaur? You decide.

God.....had many people write HIStory as teachings but in truth it is his word...it is given to us to learn but part of learning is questioning? When i say that i mean for you to question why it is right not wether it's correct or incorrect.
What your friend wondered, i thought of once myself, but for him to grow more in the word i would tell him to read through the bible and find out if it mentions dinosaurs and also see how God says it is His word.
Also, do accurate research......i personally know the Bible is correct. Wether i see this before my eyes or not becuase God created Man who questions, intern meaning, he created "mind". if he didn't want us to become knowledgable he wouldn't have allowed us to question.

Trust God and he will prove himself to be all powerful. PRAY for an answer or seek a leader in your church or someone else that God has anionted with wisdom of his truth. For this can be twisted in many directions by those that have not yet obtained this knowledge but God can ordain your answer.
Luv Ya and many blessings
oh........ keep it HoLy 4 HoVaH
