No. Most of the bridesmaids out there are not single. Like on the show Girlfriends when Toni was getting married. Maya was already married to someone else.

The only rule is with the woman's position of honor. A single woman is Maid of Honor, a married woman is Matron of Honor. With bridesmaids it's the same, single or married.

No....a bridesmaid can be single, married, widowed or whatever. Historically, however, the MATRON of honor is usually a married female although a divorced or widowed lady could fill the position as well.

No. You can have a boyfriend or a husband to be a bridesmaid. It's whoever the bride wants to have that part in her wedding

Traditionally the word "maid" referred to a single young woman, so technically yes. A married woman in the same role would be called a "matron of honor". If you don't like the sound of that title you can call yourself what ever you want. I like the term "bridal attendant".
