I sit cross legged too. When my leg goes numb I just switch position. While sitting on the floor or just sitting somewhere I also get numb legs. I don't think that crossing your legs can cause vein problems but I would consider asking a doctor. You could try crossing your ankles instead of your legs.

I'm not sure if it causes long term problems, although logic says it could, but I do know that if you have issues with circulation and or high blood pressure you shouldn't sit with your legs crossed. This is also true for women in late term pregnancy as it can cause swelling. Remedy...Sit with legs elevated above the heart
At this age you should be checking with you Dr. for these issues on a regular basis. If you haven't been screened yet I would recommend it.

Sitting cross legged is more of a proper etiquette for women, probably started way back when. Most people in upper society considered a woman a whore if she sat legs apart or not crossed.

Do you remember Willy(Janitor) from the TV Sitcom The Simpsons when he crossed his legs infront of the cops and they said "This is your last warning" with a gun pulled out !!! I think that it doesn't cause vein problems. Vericose veins are caused from wearing tight blue jeans while standing for prolonged periods of time either on concrete or other forms !!!!! I don't cross my legs because I am a man and it hurts if I cross my legs !!!

If you do it constantly it will put pressure on veins and cause some broken ones,,,you know, the blue ones behind the knees. Also it isn't good for back/body alignment. But I do it too, lol.
