Apart from just running, do other exercises as well, eat healthy and keep your mind and body focused. Try practising soccer techniques as well, right now you seem to need confidence and an all round training will give you this, and come the big day you'll be able to run the required time, and have a lot more to offer the team when it counts.

I think you are going to do a mix of running to get your time down. I'd like to see you start running 3 - 4 times a week, anywhere from 1 mile to 4 miles. Soccer is a mix of speed and endurance, so I think a good plan might look like this:
Sunday: long run, easy pace. Go 3-4 miles, if possible. I am not sure what your endurance is like, but don't worry about speed... just run.
Monday: rest
Tuesday: do 4 - 6 400 meter repeats on your schools track (or mark half quarter miles in your nieghborhood). Run each one, rest until you are recovered and repeat. You are teaching yourself to move quickly...do not sprint, but run hard.
Wednesday: rest
Thursday: Warm up 10 minutes with easy running. Do 10 minutes of semi-hard running -- enough were it is challenging but not gut busting (like the 400's).
Friday: Easy Run 20 - 30 minutes
Saturday: rest.
The bottom line, though is to RUN. You only get faster by running.
Also, take my schedule with a grain of salt. I am not sure what your soccer schedule is like, so adjust my plan based upon your current fitness level AND your soccer training.
Feel free to drop me a line if you need more help.
Good luck.

You aren't too far off on what you want to accomplish. Try running a mile every day and then each week cutting 15-20 seconds off. In a couple of months you'll be right where you want to be. Good luck

Try jogging in the mornings everyday (half mile - mile). Remember, don't go over board it's just jogging. Then evey other day sprint (quater mile - half mile) straight run. This will get your heart rate up, so you won't die out. One last thing, don't get stressed out, calm down, breath, and listen to some music to get your head in the game. ----Good Luck---

Try taking longer strides. This will make you run faster. Faster=less time.
Dont sprint for this will make you tired.
Just find a nice fast pace with long strides.
this is how i got from doing a mile from8.34 to 6.00 mins.
