The witch trials and executions play a minor role in the oppression of women by not only certain forms of Christianity, but a variety of religions across the world. In fact, the struggle for gender equality within the church is seen even today. Men, as well as women, continue to perpetuate the cycle of disparity by barring women from the priesthood and insisting on the male deity rather than one who transcends gender. . There is more but I lack the space and time. To answer your question, how do females believe? I cannot speak for anyone else but my spirituality is a very individual matter. I do not rely on a biased (even well-meaning!) interpretation of what I am able to read for myself.
P.S- All's forgiven with the witches. :) The Church killed a lot people back then, not just females.

True Christians aren't witch hunters & they don't burn witches For the Grace of God has redeemed us from the curse, of the Law of Sin & death.
Our sins are forgiven & forgotten, so likewise, we must forgive & forget others who may curse us. Me. I just bless those who curse me. I envision a boomerang heading my way, dipped in God's love & returned to sender. I don't receive the curse.
whitetigerofgod, It doesn't say anywhere in the book of Revelation that Catholics & the Vatican is the Beast and / or the Harlot of Abomination. You are adding to the Word of God; Even the book of Revelation. That is dangerous when one reads the warnings at the end of the book of Revelation.

How can you believe in anything, since at one time people have been treated badly for it. Did you ever consider that we are not responsible for what our ancestors did? And all women were not hunted down and burned, just women practicing medicine. and that wasn't the church, but rather doctors, using scripture as base for their stupidity. What do you want them to join? Islam where they are to this day hunted down, tortured and killed for going outside without a hajab on and without their husband? When looking at the least of all evils, Christianity doesn't sound too bad.

During the inquisition men women and children were killed, that had nothing to do with Christ. There is nothing in the Bible that condones this kind of behavior. Just as in the time of the apostles, who were by the way hunted down and murdered, there was no justification for these acts. Fanatics in the church, Queen Isabella, for one ordered this sort of atrocity. Sounds strangely familiar in this day and age - ie: Muslim fanatics.

I find it curious that you single out Christianity for questions regarding feminism as opposed to other religions when Christianity is the one religion which called for radical equality among the sexes.
"In Christ there is neither Jew nor Greek, male nor female, slave nor freedman, for all are one in Christ Jesus" (The bible)
Women were prominent in Jesus's ministry - read the Gospel of Luke where we see women supporting Jesus, worshipping Jesus, being taught by Jesus, teaching others about Jesus, and being the first witnesses to Jesus's resurrection.
Contrast that with the assertion of Mohammed for example who taught that the testimony of a woman was worth half that of a man's in court.
Jesus valued every woman he met and spoke with them in a way that flew in the face of the cultural taboos of his day.
Why does Christianity get your ire, and not Islam which forces it's women to wear head-to-toe coverings and teaches that a woman's highest aspiration is to sexually please her husband?

the word feminine came from the case of withcraft."fe" means faith and "minine" means lack of. Only pagan religious have priestesses or any special female rank in religion.
but anyways, witches are real, but just because your female doesn't mean you are one.
