You have listed the best answers already! But I have 3 more.

Safe, and secure local fuel. Electricity in many areas of Canada is 100% domestic fuel. No imports.

Technology advancements. Gas vehicles haven't had much technical improvements. On the other hand, yesterdays streetcar is today's Rapid Transit. Anything built recent is electric. Vancouver's Skytrain, Calgary's LRT are both fully electric. And Toronto's modern line is electric as well. They are smoother, faster, and require less maintenance than fuel subway cars.

You also don't have to worry about stopping and fueling up.

I honestly can't think of advantages, only disadvantages. The price of electricity is alot more than gas right now. With the rolling blackouts and power failures that the power demand is causing, how is more electricity use an advantage? also, ever tried driving down streets with streetcar tracks? It;s not pleasant.

electric cars can travel 90 m/h up to 150 miles on one charge. Look up the Nissan Leaf. If you live in an area that gets it's energy through renewable resources, such as I do where 90% of our electricity is produced hydroelectrically, it can save on emissions. And even if you do not live in an area you can still reduce your emissions by 20%.
