I went to the library today looking for books on buddhism. Although, buddhism isn't really a religion, I want to impliment it in my life. So, I couldn't find any Buddhism books so I asked the lady at the front desk "Do you have any books on Buddhism?"
SHe started laughing along side another lady that was standing beside her, and she said "Honey, I don't think so" while still laughing. And I was standing there, wondering WTH was so funny?!?!

I can't imagine what they found so funny. Laughing at you like that was just plain rude!

To answer your original question: many religions are by their very nature exclusive; if not in membership, then in their message. The Abrahamic Big 3 are really famous for this (Judaism, Christianity, Islam): each claims a revelation of "truth" for the world. Now, to claim to have a certain "truth" is to draw a line: this here is "truth", and anything contrary to it is "non-truth". Those who belong to the group carrying the message identify themselves with that group/message: "we are the truth-bearers". Those outside of the group, therefore, do not have the "truth", and therefore do not have the "true faith", or religion.

That is just how it works.

Buddhism is an offshoot of Hinduism. It does qualify as a religion. Although Siddartha Gautama (the Buddah) is not worshipped, there are many deities forming the one "All-mind" or "oversoul", Brahman. If I understand it correctly, Buddhism is a disciplinary life taken by the observer, to bring their life into balance and escape the cycle of rebirth (reincarnation).

Peace.

You have asked the best question yet that I have seen here. Every faith on Earth believes that they are the only ones moving on to something better after they pass away. Some faith is wrong for sure. What if all faiths are wrong? Go to Amazon.com to find books on Buddhism. Best of luck with your search.

I have no idea what to think about a 1000 religions, but that the Lord and savior came to save and not to condemn. He has it covered. Meanwhile I will keep studying all I can learn about them all. But I do love to study the bible. Every one is covered as they did not ask to be here, or there or born into what ever they are born into.

"Although, buddhism isn't really a religion" You would make several million people upset.

And it's because they are bigots who think they are above everyone because of their false God.

Sad when you live in a born-again christian only area, isn't it? Ask them to borrow some from another library for you to read.

Religion is faith. It's believing in something that is unproven. That's why they believe that theirs is the only one ... that's where their faith is.
