Basically my kids go to school in pittsburgh, and the no child left behind letters arrive and I get a call, so now my question. It says that if there are not enough spots open for a child to transfer to a school that is within federal quidelines for education that it will go
1. Kids that are doing the worst in school.
2. Social, and econimic standing. I can only assume social means race.

So my kid as a B student in a subpar school, with what I can say are subpar teachers will have to stay there if there are not enough openings in a better school, because he is white and does good in school. He went to private school last year and they closed the school the next closest one to us was 20 miles away, and we cant afford tuition and the gas to get him there and back, we fit into the economic part I guess. So is that right because he does good he is going to get punished by maybe having to stay there with a level of education below national standards.

Well, the first thing you have to realize is that the NCLB act doesn't put funding in place for any of this stuff to actually happen. It is more of a deception than a program, causing people to think they are going to get something which they are not.

If you want change, keep it in your pocket. Your dollar is your vote and the machines don't count.
Have you considered homeschooling? With a smart kid, it isn't so hard. There is also the option of Virtual School http://www.k12.com in some states. Our kids love it. No bus rides, flexible schedules, they get to make their own lunch. It is a little more rigid than homeschooling or unschooling, but not too bad if your kids aren't needy.

The grass isn't always greener on other side of fence. how do you know they are subpar teachers? subpar school?.....maybe your attitude is subpar, and is making it harder for you and your kid to think you are doing it right. I'm sure by now your child has the same feelings about his school that you do, to me this is sad. He has enough problems meeting new friends and teachers without your pompous attitude affecting his view of school. It's not the school that is problem.
