I just need some advice, and my friends and family all have perfect eyes so they are not of any help to me. I'm supposed to wear glasses, and of course they broke a long time ago and I have since to get them replaced. My vision is obvously blurry, but do you think I would go completely blind if I just don't get a new pair of glasses or do you think I should suck it up and get a pair of glasses?

Reading things on the computer can't be fun right now. Your vision might not worsen immediately if you don't get new glasses, but your ability to carry out your day to day tasks and things that are important to you will likely suffer. I'd think that would be just as much of a problem. Has your prescription changed since you last had your eyes checked? I know that the cost of filling a prescription for new glasses and/or buying new frames can be ridiculously high. If that's a barrier to you getting new ones (and I'm not suggesting that it is for sure), research some discount eyewear shops or buy at wholesale prices (like Walmart, etc.). If you're a student in college or university, you might be able to get some of the cost covered through student benefits. If the old glasses still serve their purpose, repairing the frame might be cheaper than getting new ones, and you can still use 'em 'til you've saved for a new pair. If money's not a problem, imagine how exciting it could be to change your look with new frames (cheaper than a haircut and new wardobe, and very cool), not to mention being able to see properly. Treat yourself...you're worth it.

My dad is an ophthalmologist .. and here what he told me:

Wearing glasses is important for many reasons:
1) Your eye sight will be close to perfect so you can see better.
2) Continuous blurriness will exhust your eyes and will cause you to get lots of headaches, but will not worsen the eye immediately.
3) If one eye is much weaker than the other, your brian will recieve the images from the good eye and will neglect the blury images from the weak eye, which will go weaker by time.

Plus you have the option between glasses or lenses.
So get the pair of glasses, and simply wear them when you need them, like while watching TV or in front of the computer screen.

You won't go completely blind, but why would you want to go through life not being able to see properly? While you won't lose your sight, you will most likely suffer bad headaches. And it may affect your ability to keep your driver's license (if you have one). As someone who has worn glasses since I was 10 (and am now 53), I wouldn't want to do without my glasses for even a day.

Not wearing glasses won't make you blind...but some conditions can be improved with glasses. Also, you might find that your work and driving improve when you wear glasses. Suck it up and get a pair!
