do what I did, instead of dropping out, take whats called the proficiency test, its looked at better than a GED and you can go to any community college, its like graduating almost.....the test is pretty simple, i mean its only Highschool stuff, and if you don't know it, then good luck in the real-world because you'll be www.fukt.com without that knowledge....i took the test and 6 months later i am working at IBM making 15 bux an hour as a software engineer, and what are all my Honor Roll friends doing? crying about how they have so much homework and school sucks...pffff all that not smoking weed in highschool really caught up to them now huh?...lol anyway yeah, just stay in school or take that test...gl hf

I don't know about CA, but here in FL u must be 16 to w/d, and if u do w/d you will not be able to get a driver's liscence until you are over 21. IF u have one alread ythey suspend it. Why drop out at 17?
I mean I dropped out, but only b/c I had to be formally withdrawn befoe I could take my GED. So I w/d 2 days before my scheduled test date... and then went right into college at 16.

it's illegal if you're under 16 and if you're 16+ all you need is parental consent but if you do drop out, you lose your license and work permit until you're 18 unless you have a reasonable reason to be dropping out (family issues, financial trouble, etc)

Technically yes, but when you turn 18 you are free to choose. If you are going to, my only advice is to not get caught, because your parents/guardians will be the ones to pay for it.

So, then just think that it is illegal to quit, and stay in there! Get yourself a good education, you won't regret it when you get older. I promise you that. Anyway, why do you want to quit? You did not say why.
