Biotin!! its a vitamin......Biotin is used for the treatment of biotin-responsive inborn errors of metabolism. It has putative glucose tolerance-modulating activity. It may also have activity in the management of brittle fingernails and the uncombable hair syndrome. There is some evidence that it may have antioxidant activity.
its also great for aids patients! she could look it up and ask her doctor!

Whoever said that you lose between 15 and 20 hairs a day should to multiply that by 5. It's perfectly normal to lose 50-150 hairs a day. Some hormonal changes - such as taking contraceptive pills can lead to more shedding than usual. Some things (like pregnancy) can cause you to shed less than normal, but once that's over, all the hairs with would normally have been shed during that time fall out, which often people will freak out about, but it's just your body catching up. Long hair also makes the amount shed look considerably more than short hair.

Hair sheds more in one day then you think. If it doesn't look like it is thinning then it probably isn't . You have to keep in mind the length of the hair also. The longer the strand is the more hair it looks like it is. Also keep in mind worry and stress will take the hair out faster then anything so tell her DON"T WORRY

It depends on if it's a "normal" amount of hair. Depending on age, etc women can lose up to 500 strands of hair a day. If it's and unusual amount of hair loss, she should look at her diet to make sure she's getting enough nutrition, maybe start taking vitamins. If it still continues she should see a doctor.

has she been sick recently?
lost/gained a lot of weight?
been on a lot of antibiotics?
taken prescribed steroids like prednesone?
I had a similar condition after a long hospital stint. The doctor said once the effects of the drugs completely wore off it would stop, but it would be a couple of months. Sure enough it did.

She needs to see a dermatologist. There is nothing besides Rogaine that she can take. However, I don't reccommend that without prior instruction from a physician. Stress could be causing this.
