If you mean cortisone injections, then these are injected at or close to the site of the pain and the steroid acts on the pain.
Usually work really well but occaisonally can have no effect.

It depends on what the injection is for and where it is to be injected. If it is cortisone then the pain can be excruciating but the relief provided is awesome although not everlasting, therefore a repeat of excruciating pain is required to overcome the initial pain - it's like a pain merrygoround, never ending.

They are basically anesthetics injected into muscle tissue to relieve the muscles into a relaxed state. Also called "trigger point injections".
I have had many and they help tremndously for me. Of course, you will probably here the other side. Just have to try them and see what happens. Go from there!

Here's a tip: The one's administered in the cervical and thorasic areas are much more tolerable than the lumbar and sacrum areas. "SENSITIVITY"- OUCH!!!!!!!!! Sort of the Mohammed Ali- float like a butterfly, STING like a BIG BEE!!!!!!
