It seems like all the good intelligent questions here get the most hated on. Are religious folks that afraid of what they may learn if they open their minds?

I never claimed that MY questions were meant to be intelligent or non-offensive. This was something I noticed with others.

Yes, they are. An open mind might burst their safe little God bubble. It is tragic, isn't it. There is so much more out there about God and different ways to worship him. Not to mention the science that they dismiss.

Yes, it most certainly is possible to ask a thought-provoking question and get intelligent answers. Boy, I'd love to see one...

I spotted the problem right off the bat. You don't only ask a question; you do it in an insulting manner. Never group everyone in one category and never presume. Also, never take the subjects for stupid by being condescending.
Always ask you question in a inquisitive manner and never in a superior manner or you will always find people on the defense.

Yup. If you open your mind a little bit too much knowledge flows in that you don't really need. But they do need to learn to accept people, and speak to them in love with compassion and care. Maybe more people will like Christianity otherwise. That's what being open-minded is. Just accepting people and using opporutnities to tell about Jesus Christ.

Actually, Ive found that the most intelligent questions come mostly from Christians.

It's the non-believers that do most of the hating. 'Course, what would we expect??
