I love men who have cats for pets, and who treat them well! It's a definite "plus" for me when getting to know someone. In my eyes, there's nothing "un"masculine about it. It's just a sign of a caring, compassionate nature, and that's a good thing.

Here is what I think... a warm blooded fuzzy companion, is a warm blooded fuzzy companion...
I think that men look goofier with those "hand-bag dogs" than a cat. You know sometimes I wonder if men -- not all -- but some -- don't like cats because they don't pay attention to you all the time and listen to your every command. They are independent creatures, and this makes them interesting to me. Don't get me wrong here, I love dogs too! I have a cat, she's about 5 and I have had her for 4 years. Got her from the pound. She has got to be the neatest cat I have ever had! She comes when she's called, I taught her to sit in a few hours about a month after I got her, she is social, loves everybody -- even strangers and other animals...
SO.... back to your question... I would be impressed if a man had a cat. To me this would mean he didn't give a rat's a $ $ what people thought about him. I love confidence in a man. Very attractive attribute.
So maybe you should ask yourself why you judge someone by the pet that they choose.

No, its alright for a single man to have a cat. Some people prefer cats and some prefer dogs. I dated 2 men- one had 2 cats and 2 dogs, and one just had a cat. Both men were very masculine.

Men probably like women who have dogs, right? Women like men who have cats. I don't think it looks ridiculous or deteriorates their masculinity at all.
Men who are comfortable having a cat are showing that they are not afraid of being gentle nurturers. Men with dogs are the guys who, as parents, will roughhouse with their kids but not stroke their hair gently or speak to them softly about how special they are. I'm not saying they can't. I'm saying it's not something that will come naturally to them.
A man who owns a cat is already a gentle nurturer and not afraid to show his softer side. He will know how to be gentle with his woman and with his children. That's a very attractive feature to a woman.
I'm hoping that you're asking this question because YOU are a cat owner and you're playing the antagonist here :)

So you are saying that men should have dogs. Heck, let's take that even further - men should have wolves. I have a cat, have always had a cat, have no problem being masculin but will only date women, not men. So what do you think of men who have snakes, or ferrets, or tarantulas?

No they don't have an idea how ridiculous they appear. Because they do not appear ridiculous. They appear is gentle and kind hearted men. And by the way, I can proudly say that I'm one of them! Cheers! :)

Your question is rediculous. A man with a cat proves that the man likes cats. Thats a good thing! Now, if the man had DEAD cats all over his house, that would definetly say something negative about him.
Live cats good. Dead cats bad.

What a dumb a ss statement. I am single and have 3 cats. (2 Siamese brothers, and one enormous yellow tabby). You have no idea how good of an icebreaker they are when I bring a date home. Most women like cats (didn't mean to be sexist) and don't feel threatened by them. Like they might lets say with your average Pit Bull. When I'm not having company my 3 cats are excellent company for me. They are quiet and don't ask for much. All I can say is it works for me and that's how I like it!
